Hi everyone
I'm Connor, i'm 30, British and live in Dubai.
For the most part, i've always done the 'expected' thing.
Did okay at school, did pretty good at college, went to university and got a decent degree in Business and Management.
Worked consistently from around age 14, been consistently promoted in every job i've had.
Highest positions have been Operations Director at the last couple of companies (In different industries and countries and worked up from entry level employee in each)
Bought, renovated and flipped a couple of properties.
Travelled a fair bit, had some great experiences and seen some crazy things.
I quit my job a couple of months ago, I have a decent little business in short term renals in Dubai and the income from that was starting to be equal to my day job but didn't rquire 60 hour weeks so I decided to leave the job as I felt trapped in golden handcuffs, I had a decent enough income from it that gave us a great lifestyle but I got fed up of working 5,6,7 days to earn 1 day of freedom, it't not a trade i'm willing to do until im 65/70 years old.
I've always chased money and then when I earned more than I expected, there was a feeling of something missing. Control of my own time and freedom to truly make decisions for myself without considering others.
So here I am, cracking on, pushing to carve out a little slice of something for myself.
My aim is to start a family, retire my wife and be able to do something I enjoy while not being geographically tied to one place.
Might do a month in a villa in Bali, then hop to Thailand, do a few weeks there working from the poolside, then maybe shoot over to a cabin in lapland to watch the northern lights.... This is what I am working towards.
This sort of life but without having to consider 'can I afford that', 'will this set us back', all the normal things people have to consider... That's what I want to overcome
Let me know your thoughts, am I crazy to chase this dream?
