Hello Fastlaners,
I really need some advice. I am new to the whole sales funnel / paid traffic conversions / optimisation. I've jumped into this industry with no REAL experience and nobody to advise / mentor me.
However I have got a genuine product I've developed over the years.
I spent a solid week before Christmas developing this business (creating the website, getting a marketing plan written out) - I set out to make big $ over christmas / NYE, didn't make 1 sale. Decided to forget the business. Come Jan 2, We get 2 spontaneous orders, this sparked SO much motivation to pursue this business properly.
I sell a photography filter preset kit for the globally known program "Lightroom" - I use Instagram to channel traffic to my website, I get about 300-400 Unique visitors a day, this converts to 1-2 sales a day, with my product being $49USD per sale (100% profit as it's a digital product).
We've been running for three weeks, this is the overview of our results:
Week 1:
-Mon-Sunday = 2 sales consistently every day of the week. 200 people on our mailing list by Friday $700USD made in that first week.
Week 2:
-We decided to run a giveaway starting Sunday night to boost our mailing list, this boosted our mailing list to 900 people over night, it gave us traffic of 600+ people on Monday, 3 sales (broke our record), my business partner decided to throw $300 into Facebook ads to promote the giveaway (I thought this was a bad idea) he ended up getting the website nearly 900 Audience per day and 200-300 mail sign ups a day.
From day three of the giveaway our sales went to 0 for 5-6 days, our website traffic lowered to 200 per day.
I feel the giveaway 'hurt our marketing campaign' - we were reaching consistent buyers everyday, we thought we could 'boost that', we ended up ordering it!
Week 3:
-I sat back down with my business partner to try and "recover" our old marketing campaign, we did, and bang 6 hours later a sale comes through, then for the next 3 days 2 sales each day came through.
-Day 4 though, the day that got me thinking about writing a thread.
-We have 450~ visitors a day now, it's a weekend (sales on weekends we expect to be greater) and we haven't made a single sale since Friday morning.
Instead of losing motivation and getting frustrated, we now want to 'problem solve' so we can expand and grow even greater.
But we really need help from those who know how to convert traffic into sales.
It's been 3 weeks and we've had 26 sales.
Are we pulling in SO much traffic that it's just expected to at least make a sale or two? Or is our product truly liked/appreciated and we need a PROPER/REAL sales plan (that has goals of 10+ sales a day, not 2 a day)

Perhaps we have a very weak sales funnel? I am not sure.
One thing I've recommended to my business partner we do is make a video to sell our product.
Another option was to create a better website from scratch that has more features to show off our filters (like say a feature to see what your image looks like with our filter, where they upload their image and instantly see it with our filter applied).
But I am truly unsure why we aren't making more sales at 400~ website traffic a day.
I'm flirting with the idea of trying to get traffic with FB ads as I've heard about online marketers who are killing it with sales from FB ad traffic.
All help will be truly appreciated.
