I have the same issue as a recent poster here. I have the opportunity to double my current income.
But my current job is CHILL. I'm talking over half the time, I'm either sleeping or working on my er, infantry online 'business' and learning the ropes (which I predict will require quite a bit of time).
The new opportunity will have similar hours, but it will be non-stop work at work.
IF my fastlane succeeds, I will be on the fastlane faster if I stay. But that is one big *IF*.
The current job is also more stable, I have a permanent contract, and it's close to impossible to remove me. On the other hand, I don't like the current hours. It's basically early mornings and nights. Though I have quite a bit of free time at work, you know how it feels when you haven't gotten enough sleep....
The new job is contract term. Most likely 3 years. But I have no idea where the economy will be in the coming three years, it's possible it'll go to SHIT where I am. The housing market is already going down (scarily fast I may add- but it could just be short-term. I have a rental property with a ~40% mortgage on it. Easy to rent out, but if the value drops by more than 50%, I just may go into foreclosure.. My parents have the dough to pay for it in full, but I'll be then counting on them to lend me the money.
I wonder if it's the right thing to do to hold on to stability in this situation.
What do you guys think?
