Serve others, you want money? Forget about them, you want to win? Forget about winning.
the goal of any kind of sport is not winning, the goal of sports is growth, development, overcoming difficulties along the way, the end of the road? no, it's a journey of a lifetime.
Business? the Goal of business is profit? No. Serve to others, growth, creating value, solving problems, development, overcoming difficulties along the way. the end of the road? there is no end of the road.
Money? they give you food, shelter, but you don't want money, you want emotion, the fullness of life, which you get when you are in the moment, serving others, ready to give yourself and die today, but ready to live forever.
As ironic as it sounds, everything you want you have to let go. Winning? You play hard, you overcome challenges, you grow, you're in the moment, winning is a byproduct and the effect is in it all.
Profit in business? Forget about that, it's about value, problem solving, mastery of your craft. Competitors? Funny, but they disappear when you stop obsessing about them and keep your focus on yourself and your personal growth and mastery and honing your skills. Competitors? No, it's your friend who helps you, and you help him to improve in his craft, thus you fight at the peak of your abilities to feel the fullness of your life, being in the moment, not thinking about anything. There is no end here, this whole road is a lifetime long. All the goals you can't control (winning, profits, subscribers, views, likes, rankings, etc. etc.) create only fear, the illusion that you are achieving something, but when you let it go and do everything you can to direct your energy only to the perfection of yourself, all these side effects and results suck on their own and on top of that you feel complete because you are living in the here and now and not chasing after imaginary values.
P.S This is what I implemented in my life from book Jim Murphy "Inner Excellence"
I wrote that you have to forget about money to make it, but don't get me wrong. You need it, with it you have freedom, you have choices and you can get rid of all your obligations when you have a lot of these valuable vouchers. What I want to convey is this - you need to let go of what you want most. You're chasing the win (money) but you need to take that word out of your vocabulary and focus on solving problems, serving others. How can you make your client's life happier? By having him say “thank you = give money to you”
Goal of business - create, solving problems, add value, serve others, growth and overcoming difficulties along the way. Money? A byproduct of what I just listed and should never be the original goal.
Feel free to drop your opinion about this mindset.
