How to go about speaking to potential customers

okay, I need your help on this one (one more time)! My product is not out yet but I need some information from potential customers. Different information is needed for different clients.
I need this before the product is out.
I don't know how to get the info, who to speak to. If IBM was one of your potential customers, how would you go about getting information? Do you send a mail? Do you request an appointment? with who? What do I say?
I spend 8 hours in front of a computer for my work. And 4 hours from home doing my own researches. I can't speak, let alone convince. Why would they trust me?
Just writing this here and thinking of the idea of having to convince someone to trust me is making my hands sweat and get really cold.
I need the info now.
Has anyone done this? should I write an email? a letter? How the hell this is supposed to be done?
And where the hell do I get a coach? what type of coach do I need?
Could an existing business similar to yours help you and answer your how-tos?
