Hi everyone!
In this thread I am going to be outlining my progress in building, testing, and running a ‘money-making-machine’.
It’s been a while that I’m a member on this forum and have not contributed much. So, now that I’m into a ‘new’ project (it’s been dragging for a while…will explain later the mistakes) I decided to share the experience.
What is it about: It’s about a trading engine. It’s basically a collection of routines that do autonomous trading. That is: get the raw data, evaluate it, analyse it, apply rules, decide what to buy or sell, record related data (for post trade evaluation), and inform me about any issues in real time. All these of course – hands free because time is valuable.
Let me point out at this stage that all of this is/will be done from scratch. The reason being that I want to have full control of the process, and also gives me the ability to do things different from the masses (remember: the masses lose in trading) and to avoid some common pitfalls of dealing with brokers.
The initial purpose of this trading engine is to do my personal trading with it, even though my funds are currently limited. When it becomes consistently profitable, perhaps share the signals (via a website) with others for a fee.
Running the concept through CENTS: there is a big Need for positive returns, but it’s so easy for anyone to Enter this space it's full of scam (especially on the internet).
This will be the second bigger challenge…to rise above the incredible amount of noise. The first being to get those positive returns on a consistent basis. Success for me will be a steady rise of returns with low drawdowns – not a get rich fast scheme.
A few things about my background: engineering background (studied in the US), I like to program and learn new things and expand my horizon, especially in personal development and business related areas. Also worked for a while in a hedge fund (to gain insiders info), but now back in engineering.
Fully committed to moving away from the slowlane and getting into a Fastlane territory. I realize that my ‘escape’ velocity will be building up with quality effort and I look forward to the challenge.
But first things first. Step one was to re-program myself. Listening to MJ’s audio book over and over did the job nicely, along with other related audio books. Now to step two: action!
I will try to post once every two weeks or earlier if time permits. Time is very scarce now with this project. Surprisingly this is a hard concept when it comes to explaining to others, so I stopped trying and just say NO to many things. Slowlane day job is a drainage of my time, but will keep it for now since it pays the bills.
So, in my next post I will be outlining my progress so far and my early mistakes…
