<div class="bbWrapper">Hey Everyone,<br /> <br /> This is my intro. I finished TMF last month and it really resonated with me. I&#039;ve read countless books, websites, and articles on business, but TMF is the first book where I thought &quot;this is brilliant and doable&quot;, so I had to check out this forum. I&#039;ve been blown away by what I&#039;ve read on here so far and inspired by many contributors. @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/3909/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="3909" data-username="IceCreamKid">IceCreamKid</a> @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/4800/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="4800" data-username="JackEdwards">JackEdwards</a> @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/8202/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="8202" data-username="Vigilante">Vigilante</a> @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/5640/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="5640" data-username="zend***phin">zend***phin</a> @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/10479/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="10479" data-username="JasonR">JasonR</a> @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/13543/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="13543" data-username="limitup">limitup</a> of course @<a href="https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/members/1/" class="username" data-xf-init="member-tooltip" data-user-id="1" data-username="MJ DeMarco">MJ DeMarco</a> and many more.<br /> <br /> A little background on me and what brings me here:<br /> From the time I was a kid I wanted to run my own business. My plan after high school was to skip college and start my own business. My parents thought owning a business was too risky, especially for an 18yr old kid, and pushed me to go to college.<br /> <br /> While I had fun in college, this is where I entered the rat race. I still dreamed of owning my own business, but now I had debt, loads of it. Having loads of debt meant I needed to get a job, so why not go after one at a fortune 500 company.<br /> <br /> That was about 10yrs ago now and I&#039;m still there. In the past 6yrs I&#039;ve earned 3 promotions, doubling my income each time. For anyone who thinks working for a Fortune 500 company is &quot;safe&quot;, Just a few months after my latest promotion, the company decided to change the comp plan for everyone in my position, significantly. I was earning around $20k+/month, now I might gross $6k/month. Oh, and they were nice enough to increase our workload in the process.<br /> <br /> We&#039;re a single income household and my wife&#039;s supportive of me starting a business, more now than ever. I&#039;ve made some attempts over the years, all online and one MLM (never again), with nothing hitting. Reading TMF and so many of the great posts here I realize my focus was always on me and how I can make as much money as possible. I wasn&#039;t providing value to anyone. I didn&#039;t think of others first, but that&#039;s all changed now.<br /> <br /> I don&#039;t have a product yet, but I decided to take action. I found a niche that seems to have a lot of potential, there are magazines, affiliate products, retail products, etc... and I find it interesting (not a passion). About 2 weeks ago I bought a domain and hosting and have been reviewing popular videos, articles, and sites related to the niche. I&#039;m learning SEO but my end goal is to find out what this niche needs and then create a product(s) to fill that need.<br /> <br /> I believe I earned my promotions in the rat race not just because of my work ethic and drive, but also because I like to help my coworkers and customers and have been recognized for doing so. I&#039;m determined now to add value in other areas of my life, including on this forum. I see that it&#039;s the best and only way to really succeed.<br /> <br /> So thank you to MJ for his book and this forum and for everyone who contributes. Hopefully I&#039;ll be able to add the type of value many of you have already given to me.</div>

I&#039;m convinced that if someone can thrive in the corporate world, they have a good shot at making it as an entrepreneur if they decide to go that route later on.
