Hi guys, i have joined this forum to further my knowledge in regards to business and would ultimately like to form some friendships/mentors as its very hard to find people with an entrepreneurial mindset around my area!
I live just outside of Sydney in Australia (in the Blue Mountains if anyone heard about the catastrophic fires here that destroyed over 200 homes less than 2 months ago) I am 21 years old and have a passion for motorsport. I race cars at a state level and work in the industry as a Driver Trainer for road safety courses and also instructing members of the public on race tracks in 'V8 race cars' I was also working fulltime as a mechanic in motorsport on the levels under V8 Supercars, however it was long hours, hard work for bugger all money. Despite getting to work at race tracks and being hands on with some awesome cars day in and day out, i realised my passion for motorsport is competing rather than earning a small amount of money to allow other successful business owners to go racing.
So I began studying a small business course and reading several books (Richard Kiyosaki's books are great) At the same time I have been working 10-12 hours per day in construction/labouring type jobs to earn as much money as possible. However I have been getting mucked around and haven't had any real stability with my work although it did allow me to go racing. Next year I have some good things coming up with driver training, I have been working with someone from Sydney who owns a successful learner driving business with 18 instructors. He is branching out into defensive driving and other advanced driving courses in 2014 and I am going to be more of a head trainer and organise some of the operational side of things. Due to this and my other work I need a job that is flexible and allows me to have the time off to do those sort of things and also time off to go racing.
This is something I don't have in the construction industry, despite the work being very unstable and I only have work when they need me. So I have come up with the idea to start up an internet based business due to the low startup and overheads costs and also the ease and flexibility it will offer to fit around my lifestyle. I am creating a business that offers Graphic Design and Printing services to businesses, the whole aim of the business is to create better products at a better price. I have found some great out-sourcing services and can still offer very competitive prices so my role will basically be to push market the business and some of the organisational things with orders etc.
I really would like to meet people who are/have done similar things to what I am doing and would like some advice/opinions on what I am up to and whether it seems like the right thing to be doing
Looking forward to meeting some of you and becoming a part of the community!
