I'll introduce myself. I'm a current military officer working for the AK Air National Guard. My wife (also part of the forum) and I specialize in residential real estate. We own a property management company here in AK that's been absolutely exploding since we've opened. We've only been open since June '12 and we're currently managing around 135 doors. We own rental property ourselves, to include a 4-plex, duplex, and 3 single family homes.
MJ, your book was just the kick in the a$$ I needed to make the decision to quit my job. I'm getting out at the end of June to start working full time for our business. I've been the financial backing as we've grown and I just can't let myself make excuses to stay comfortable anymore. Frankly I hate my job as it was ranked #5 of 6 choices getting in but it paid the bills. So again, THANK YOU!!
Your book got me out of the "Gee, maybe someday" mindset. We've been SLOWLY building cashflow but reading the book was exactly what I needed to hear to know that we're never gonna get anywhere with me working 12hr shifts for the man.
I'm really looking forward to speaking with you all. I've noticed that as we get further and further down the road twoards weath, there's a chasm that builds between us and damn near everyone else. A handful of friends have seen our turn signal onto the fastlane's on-ramp and followed, but most just look at us like we're crazy. It will be nice to speak with more like minded individuals.
Our company is a franchise, so we're looking at ways to not only expand our scale but also our magnitude. My wife just finished publishing her first book that we're handing out for free to our property owners, and we're working on the next one. It will teach people how to start treating their rental properties like businesses.
