I'm Paul, a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in Technology and Music Production. I currently work as a freelance recording and mixing engineer, as well as an audiovisual artist specializing in interactive artistic installations and experiences.
I read The Millionaire Fastlane last month, and it gave me many eye-opening insights about the true essence of starting a thriving business—one that focuses on adding value and helping others' needs rather than just pursuing selfish passions.
Unfortunately, I chose my degree based on the idea of "doing what you love" and "following your passions." After finishing the book, I realized that I no longer want to prostitute (sell out) these passions I truly enjoy because, for me, they are worthy of being pursued for the sake of art alone. I don’t regret studying for this degree—I genuinely enjoyed (and still enjoy) everything I created during that time: recording and mixing songs, making art installations, etc. However, the moment I stop working on these gigs, the cash flow stops, making my income entirely dependent on my time.
Now, it's time to shift to a field where home runs are possible. I joined this forum because I want to challenge myself, become more intentional with my decisions, do things I hate (e.g., writing this introduction—lol), and, most importantly, put my selfish interests aside to bring value not just to this community but to every person in need.
