Has anyone done SEO for a national company? If so, what were some things you found that worked and didn't work?

Just askin around cuz I started talking to a prospective national client. I'm usually just a local seo guy, but we all know the rules here...never turn down an opportunity and always say yes!

"Always say yes" is the opposite of focus (say no to all things except what you focus on) as most would say ;-)
But I see the point: If you don't know something, let the customer pay you for learning it for him.

I would see the difference in SEO more on the side of what the company is about, less what scale it operates in. If it is national but has stores all over the place, it could also be a little bit like local, to maybe target all their stores.

If it is just delivery or E-Commerce, you may focus on more keywords. But as always: A site that is well designed and has better (more relevant) copy almost always gets better ranked over time. Focus on the companies customer personas to find the right approach.

Edit: But to be clear, I haven't done SEO for a national company yet, but that would be my approach.
