Hey there! I'm a new member from South Korea.
A little background about myself:
I've spent a big portion of my adolescent life abroad, including middle and high school in Ireland and university in the US.
After graduation, I joined and served in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps for 2 years.
Following that, I joined a construction firm in Korea in 2016 and have been working there ever since.
After working a corporate job for 5 years, I realized the following:
1) Being an employee and having to put my energy and time into someone else's goal that meant nothing to me was draining me physically, emotionally, and spiritually
2) I would rather work twice as much working for myself/my business than work for someone else
3) Learning the necessary skills to build my own business and succeed as an entrepreneur aligns with my life purpose and meaning
Around 2 years ago, after looking up countless content on Youtube and books on entrepreneurship, I eventually came across MJ's books, which were truly eye-openers for me in terms of what is possible, as well as what I am missing out on by being on autopilot in a cushy job.
However, at the time, I failed to do anything about it. Yes, I have fallen victim to procrastination and risk aversion, and I'm sure many can relate. I wasted a lot of time during that stage, and I am not proud of it. I guess it didn't hurt enough back then, or as MJ would call it, my FTE hasn't happened yet.
But as time passed, I watched myself get older without anything changing and job fatigue increasing, driving me towards my breaking threshold. Eventually, I hit a point for me where it no longer was acceptable to look at myself in the mirror and continue doing nothing to take action towards my dreams and live for the weekends and various forms of distractions.
I decided I would change for good and not look back. Joining this Forum is one of the things that I did to saturate my environment with ideas and people that are on the same page and are walking the same path as me.
I don't know if I would have the time to check into this Forum frequently, but in the instances that I do, I hope to learn from y'all who are further in your journeys than me, and share my own journey and what I have learned through it as well. Hope to stay engaged here!
