Well it's that time of year when people make their new years resolutions, and set their goals for the coming year. Now I'm sure that there are plenty of people on this website (like myself) that are young and likely working shitty part time jobs that they're sick of, and I'm sure there are plenty of people that have been working dead end full time jobs for years that they're sick of. So why not use the new year to set goals that allow you to quit your job?
New years resolutions are easy to set. The trick is following through on them. I have never followed through on one. To be honest I usually don't even remember what my resolutions are a week or two into the new year. Fact of the matter is I usually don't take them seriously and I set my aspirations too high. I would assume that's true of many other people with their resolutions, and is (in all likelihood) a huge reason gym's are able to profit.
So those of you who are stuck in the rat race, or are currently headed to the rat race, make your goals for 2016 realistic. I'd assume there are a lot of people who are in the slowlane and saying they're new years resolution is to make their first million dollars or to be able to afford a Lamborghini. There are some people that are in a position where that could be an attainable goal, but for the majority of us, I'm going to assume it is not. If making you're first million in 2016 is your goal, do you have a plan? Do you even have an idea as to how you're going to reach your goal? If you do, great, and best of luck. To those of you that don't, I encourage you to choose a lesser, more realistic goal. I'm not saying you have to have a detailed plan of how you're going to reach your goal but at least have a few idea's, or at least something you truly believe you're capable of achieving.
I've been lurking on this site for close to a year and have found some great ways to gain financial independence. Ecommerce, real estate, flipping vehicles, promoting events, all great ways to generate wealth that I learned, or found great information on through this site. None of these are going to make you rich over night, and (most likely) won't make you a millionaire in a year. I really don't have a plan on how to reach my 2016 financial goal but those are my ideas towards reaching it.
My goal for 2016 is to generate enough wealth that I'm able to quit my job. Now I'm not making six figures working a full time job with a family to support. I'm an 18 year old working about 20-25 hours a week, making about 9.25 an hour at a grocery store, and still living with my parents, so I would like to believe that making enough money to quit my roughly 10,000 a year job is not to far fetched.
The final message I want to send is don't be afraid to fall short of your goal. Better to try and fail then to not try at all. It's a hugely important statement on this site, don't be afraid of failure. Some things are going to work and some aren't but the only way to know what will work and what won't is to try it. If you've never reached one of your previous yearly goals, what's failing at one more going to mean? Just go out there and give it your all.
So to my fellow members of the forum, what are your goals for 2016? Are they realistic?
I'm not a millionaire so heed my advice or ignore it, I'm just here to give my perspective. This forum has helped me a lot to remain optimistic, and consistently produce ideas on generating wealth. I just hope this post gives back a little to the community
