Hey ! I'm an aspiring entrepreneur. I started my journey by educating myself through self help books, accounting , finance, etc. I'm pretty good at writing too. So, my question is, recently I read that in order to get started or get better, we can go to other successful people for their advices. It's pretty evident that their experiences and practical knowledge is invaluable. I've heard about paying to get mentored, but other than that how can we approach a successful person to get them to give advice and mentor us?

Offer them a dinner ;) I wouldn't pay for a mentor.

Welcome aboard!

This forum is your mentor. You have access to people in all stages of the process, in hundreds of different verticals. Most of us are happy to help those that help themselves.

And that's the key. You have to demonstrate that you're committed to the process of getting better at entrepreneurship. The way you do that is by starting, getting some wins and losses, and then sharing your progress with others. Create threads asking specific questions that have semi-definite answers. Though, to be honest, just about any intelligent question you can ask has already been asked ... it's just a matter of finding the right thread.

One thing you'll find is that just about every business is the same. You have to find something that people want, offer it at a price they'll pay, acquire (or give) it for less than that price, get the product in front of those people, and make sure the customer comes back for more, or refers others to you. The details vary from business to business, but these are only differences of degree.

As far as finding mentors in the real world, you have to be out there in the real world meeting people. You have to be personable, action oriented, and valuable.
