Can anyone recommend a free site or place to acquire Free High-Quality stock images?

Or is it better just to pay for it?

idk about free, but I was using BigStockPhoto.com at one point, which is paid - They have a wide variety

Allthefreestock.com is a great resource for a whole load of high quality image sites. You'll never get the selection of a real stock image site, especially for smaller niche topics, but for more generic stuff it's great.
