About 2.5 years ago, 2 of my friends and I started a "Find events around you" app. As you can probably guess, there was not much success.
A year ago I decided to transform it into a service that enables event organisers to sell tickets to their events - a ticketing system (Eventbrite, TicketMaster...). We got the first paying client in september 2024.
Since then we improved the service based on feedback, cold-emailed potential new clients and managed to get about 10 organisers selling tickets to their events through us.
In July this year we've had our biggest client yet and I thought it was a breakthrough, now I'm not sure how to proceed.
Every client We've had loves us and stays with us, they tell us that our product is superior to the local alternatives, and some using our competitors say that we are an upgrade (our ticket scanning at the entrance is the best, fastest and easiest to use, we have better sales analytics, we are the only ones with a mobile app...). We're also the cheapest out of 4 local competitors.
But I worry all the time that we're going too slow, not getting new clients fast enough and questioning if we're focusing on the right things (like product development).
We have some bigger clients on the way in the next months, that would probably open some big doors (from the July "breakthrough") but we cannot be 100% sure until they actually publish their event on our website.
There is still quite some room for improvement and value skew but I'm not sure what we should focus on; improve the service a lot more, trust those bigger clients will come and rely on word of mouth or start burning more cash (not that much left, also not yet profitable) on marketing?
Any advice, experience would help.
