    Hey guys,

Recently I've hit a rough patch on my journey and I am at this point of where I feel I can't run back to the SCRIPTED world but at the same time, my journey into the UNSCRIPTED world is still long and arduous.

It's like this weird middle ground where I can't move forward or backward.

Any words of advice would greatly help.

Thanks for taking the time to read :)

Many of us are in the middle ground, and many others live in the desert of desertion.

Sometimes asking simple questions can get you unstuck:
    • What would it take to grow your revenue 50-100%
    • What can you delegate, automate, or delete from your to-do list?
With more details about your situation, the hive mind can pour some ideas out to you.

Hey, Pat. I know what you're feeling. It's a purgatory of sorts, and it sucks. Why do you think you're stuck?

    Thanks for the responses guys!

I honestly started my journey when I read The Millionaire Fastlane about 4 years ago.

Ever since then I tried different types of business. Even had some investors and created a business that lasted a while before it became more about money and fizzled out.

I learned so much and have had days where I wake up to $2,000 but it wasn't completely in my control because it was through another market. It's not super consistent either.

I chased the money aspect for a while and read Unscripted a few months ago.

After I read Unscripted it made me reconsider my values and why I was going down the path I wanted to go down and caused a lot of questions to surface inside.

I hate that I'm aware of the Scripted lifes brutal and quick car ride into the river of death.

But at the same time, I want to impact peoples lives but that's my biggest head-scratcher recently.

I kind of hit this wall where I had some decent businesses but they were self-centered and now I want to move past that stage.

I just want to make sure I deliver solid value to people and I'm not some crappy upselling guru but how do I sell to people without crossing that line? LOL Kind of mental blocking myself here.

The dark night of the soul.

Well, do you have any ideas about the type of value you want to deliver? Have a favorite kind of person, or an industry of interest? Those are decent starting points, as long as you can make them economically viable.

What were you doing before, and why do you feel it was money-chasing? Maybe it was, but maybe there's some related thing that is more value-oriented, and we can get there by following your interests and experience.

Yeah, I think you are getting in your own way. Your answer is unclear to me and I'm pretty sure it's because you lack clarity and commitment. Seems you're torn between "meaning" and "money." Although I get it, "meaning" really has no place here in the forum. It's synonymous with "following your passion," something MJ eschews. "Meaning" is an important thing for me, too, and it took me awhile to discover that my attempt to find "meaning" in my business was really action faking, or procrastination. Look for value, not meaning.

I'm not lecturing, I'm empathizing. Been there.

    I appreciate your honesty.

It seems meaning is derived from emotions.

    Value is from logic.

I kind of see how if you're adding value you're making an impact and then the meaning will be fulfilled.

I think this is what you mean.

I was day reading and ran an ecomm store selling furniture.

It was nice but no long term goals were tied in.

I think value and meaning are conflicting within myself

I'm not connecting value with meaning at all, although delivering value can give one a sense of meaning. Meaningful work is better than meaningless work... to a point. But if I can make seven figures selling meaningless fidget spinners, I'd gladly take that over earning minimum wage saving lepers in Calcutta, even though that would be much more "meaningful." My point is that you can find meaning in many aspects of life outside of business, but your business is the only thing in your life that will provide financial freedom. Don't get me wrong, if you were to become a billionaire solving a global problem, it would be doubly great. But don't let the criterion of "meaning" stop you from pursuing less important, but equally lucrative work.

    I see. Solid points.

It seems I've been trying to combine meaning and business when the two can be mutually exclusive.

    That really helps.

They're not mutually exclusive, but they needn't be mutually inclusive, either. It might sound like a semantic point, but there's an important difference. My point is, there's plenty of room to find a happy medium between being a bro-marketing huckster and a saint. If you have an idea that's not super "meaningful," but still solves a problem or fulfills a need or desire, give yourself permission to go after it.

I used to work in pharma. I felt smarmy and thought it would be much more "meaningful" to work on the provider side of medicine, with the people who "weren't in it for the money." I thought that the intrinsic value my work provided me would compensate for the lower income. Guess what? It was BS. From an operational standpoint it was a mess. The politics were crazy. The bureaucracy was stifling. Money was just as important. It drove me nuts and at the end of the day it was not anymore meaningful. Lesson learned.

ha ha...yes i feel the same way here. I don't quite fit in anywhere, but still navigating my way in the higher direction. My thoughts, "Dam, I already conquered these mountains, done a lot work, but just not quite there yet." We both know not to quit in the middle of the road, but it sucks sometimes.
