I thought it was a cool lesson in the difference between the rich and the poor. On paper the rich man might be more broke than the poor man but In reality the rich guy owns multiple businesses and homes and uses debt as a tool to become more wealthy.
I also wanted to post it because everyone here hates debt with a raging passion.
I also liked how extreme it was. 8 Billion in debt.
Meh.
Debt, like money in general, is just a tool.
Debt, like money in general, is neither good nor bad.
Both can get you in real trouble if you lose control or don't respect them.
Team producer uses debt to gain leverage they otherwise wouldn't have, and turns that leverage into income producing assets that allow them to buy the life they desire.
Team consumer uses debt to buy the life they desire but didn't earn, in exchange for their indentured servitude.
I like the 'Team producer' and 'Team consumer.' Did you hear that from somebody or make that up yourself?

What a novel concept.
This is a good post. This sounds like the point OP was just trying to make.
