I'm doing research for a specific product idea in a niche market. I see there are competing products, but none are really doing what I am looking to do. As I come across these potential competitors, I find myself wondering how they are doing? What is there company worth? Are they making money? What do their sales look like? etc...

I like to use siteworthchecker.com to valuate websites, but that tool is really limited only to a website's worth.
I know hoovers.com and jigsaw.com provide some decent info as well.

I'm wondering what tools you find helpful? Also, what specific info are you looking for when evaluating possible competitors?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to comment!
