In the past, I used to struggle with keeping deep focus on the important task at hand, and sustaining the energy to keep pushing forward easily and effortlessly.
In this thread, I am sharing my experiences to increase ENERGY and FOCUS...
But first, a little context about my background and what I did to get here. In 2014 when I was still struggling with a lot of the tasks of starting a business, I decided to go on a personal development journey. I learned first through NLP and then went deeper into EFT, hypnosis, emotional release techniques, energy healing/spiritual stuff, etc.
Over time I built a business, helping others through the same struggles I once pushed through myself.
Option 1- The music you listen to.
You would think upbeat, club type of music would give you energy, and you are right...BUT what I avoid are the emotional highs and lows. When I listen to the music I would listen to while working out, I get upbeat, and the energy level is there...but the FOCUS was non-existent.
Instead, I choose to go with steady, non-emotional music.
Option 2 - Binaural Beats
I haven't used these in a while, but when I listened to them with full-ear heaphones (not the ipad ones that go in the ears), the frequency they give off puts your brainwaves in a specific frequency. This works very well and they make different types of binaural beats. I use mine for focus.
Option 3 - The food you eat.
In the mornings, I stopped eating big meals full of bread, sugar, fats etc. I do have sugar, but it's in the banana and berries I eat. I usually wake up and write/do some important work BEFORE I eat and before I get out of bed in the morning.
Big meals, fast food, fatty food, and sugary energy drinks give you a temporary rush, but the CRASH that comes after it....kills your energy.
Option 4 - Overwhelm
I'm a big picture thinker.
When I think of the big pictures, lots of tasks pop into my mind and the emotions of each task unconsciously overwhelms me. By chunking down to one task at a time, and forgetting about the rest, knowing that this one thing is something I need to do in order to achieve my goals...I avoid that overwhelm and my focus is stead.
Option 5 - Recharge your batteries
Breathe in, breathe out.
How do you recharge your batteries and energize yourself? Is it a hike through the mountains? Or is it going to the clubs and bars at night (minus the alcohol)?
By getting so caught up in work 7 days a week, I sometimes forget to exhale and recharge.
Option 5 - Meditation
I sit on my rooftop balcony and clear my mind as I gaze off towards the mountains. By reaching this neutral state of being, it allows me to snap back to reality when I get distracted and lose focus, and allows me to get back on track quicker.
Option 6 - Accept, and not resist.
Don't resist things.
I used to resist spending time with people who weren't into business, and the conversations just drained them. One of the girls who is living with myself and another fastlaner in "Project Boulder" is a free spirit hippie that feels we should tax the rich more, and other views that are different than mine.
I stop resisting her point of views that differ, and that lack of emotional resistance does not drain energy from me. This acceptance carries over to all parts of my life - it's a zen buddhist principle to separate yourself from the emotion, and observe.
Translation: You don't waste energy on things that aren't important.
Option 7 - Tune out distractions
I don't watch TV, I don't go on fox news or cnn, and I spend most of my time doing things that create energy and not drain it. See option 5 because the things that recharge me are not the same as the ones that recharge you.
Pay attention where your energy goes, tune into your emotions, and you'll have more energy and focus to get more done.
Other things:
The Steady Wave -
What I like to view is keeping my my emotions/energy a steady stream (close to a flat line on this graph) Listening to music that keeps it steady and avoids the highs. Eating foods that avoid the crashes (lows), and to keep my focus and awareness on one specific task at a time.

- Find out where you work best - For me it is in the room alone, for others, it's in a group.
