Do you need a FTE?

It seems like you only have FTE when things are bad. For me, failure, even if I reach “success” is what triggers FTE. Anthony Robbins says the enemy of the best is the good. But what if you already have success? One thing most people don’t talk about is how success breeds failure. Look at child actors and rockstars. The great rise from their own FTE gave them the success but they take it for granted and lose that fire. You can see hundreds of company’s that are like this. Thoughts?

To give a personal example. My FTE for losing weight was in 10th grade. I hated he fact that my friends could do pull-ups and get to cool places but not me. I stated to lose weight and gain muscle. Fast forward 7 years and I am LIGHTYEARS ahead of everyone(not saying much) in hs and I was the fat kid. Well I lost that edge. I still eat healthy but I wasn’t as obsessed as I was back then and to be honest I miss those days. I’m so in shape that I don’t care anymore but that has also made me lose my passion and lust for life. This can’t be a uncommon experience.

You ask me? I feel like the FTE is a moment of realization. I don't think it has to be negative or positive. When you realize there's something wrong with what you're seeing and feeling, you're most likely right. There's an example of a person named "Jack Ryan" And he was by far the BEST white basketball player on the streets that could have definitely played for the NBA. He even had NBA tryouts and team tryouts. But he didn't like how people told him what to do when he enjoyed performing crazy shit. He then believed that his career was over and contemplated suicide. Later on, a Harlem Wizard (Or maybe the owner of Harlem Wizard) saw him perform on the streets and saw all the crazy tricks he did, and got recruited to entertain kids and people with these things he loved to do. You see, he had a FTE moment where everyone thought he failed, but in all reality he succeeded by doing what he was truly good at.

There are generally two sides involved in changing your thoughts and behaviors:
1. by looking at things from a scarcity mindset.
2. looking at things from a growth mindset.

The difference is this: A scarcity mindset pushes you to do something when things aren't going well. You change your thoughts and behaviors e.g. because you don't have enough money, or because (in your case) you were out of shape in high school; so you work out.

The other side from which change originates is a growth mindset. You do things because you want to evolve on a higher level. You want to gain experience doing something, helping others, etc.

Now as I said, you had your "life purpose" in working out because you too wanted to do pull-ups. As you were in top shape, you lost that edge (because you've reached your goal)... and you don't have any "lust for live" anymore because you only had that one purpose in in your life.

What you can do now is to maintain your health because you know how bad you feel when you're out of shape. You can also find joy in the process of working out itself (so it's not just a means to an end).
You could motivate others to get in shape, too -- so you have a higher purpose, and something to strive for.

I think it's time to maintain your shape by working out regularly and using your work out to train your mind, too -- so by pushing yourself to the limit from time to time, you strengthen your mind.
