Hello fellow hockey player. I think asking would be helpful and I'll definitely do that. I think it'd be best if I make a prototype (quickly) and see if it direclty helps when I try it myself. Also, maybe a presale to test demand.I am a former hockey player myself (a goalie), and this idea is quite interesting to me. Creating a brand or sports product in a market that has just a few highly dominated brands seems quite tricky. For the best bet at first I would find out locally, ask around, go to hockey shops/sports clubs/ask your local physiotherapist about the idea and what some other opinions would be on it.
