Designing hockey (skating, skiing) pants. Any ideas how to get started?

As a Canadian, I've gotten back into hockey after a 15 years hiatus. One thing that I've really tried to practice is bending my knees near 90 degrees as much as I can for all the manuevers. This is commonly preached by all skating coaches, and even pros find that they could bend their knees a bit more. Also, I think this could apply to a variety of similar sports (skiing, speed skating, etc.)

I'm thinking about creating pants (or even sleeves that go over your knee) that show the angle of knee bend as you bend them. As you look down on the top of your thighs, you can see the degree of knee bend (maybe with a color indicator). There's soo many times I think I'm bending 90 degrees, but it's more like 140. As far as I can tell, there isn't anything in the market that does this. The idea is relatively simple, but I need to design it in a way that it will work. Do I hire a textile firm? Or should I try to make one myself and take it from there? Don't know if this something that needs to be done in AutoCad by an engineer.

I am a former hockey player myself (a goalie), and this idea is quite interesting to me. Creating a brand or sports product in a market that has just a few highly dominated brands seems quite tricky. For the best bet at first I would find out locally, ask around, go to hockey shops/sports clubs/ask your local physiotherapist about the idea and what some other opinions would be on it.

This would apply to squatting in power lifting & skiing too. Angle of the knees is very important.

Hello fellow hockey player. I think asking would be helpful and I'll definitely do that. I think it'd be best if I make a prototype (quickly) and see if it direclty helps when I try it myself. Also, maybe a presale to test demand.
