Crowdfunding, a good or bad idea?

Hello everyone!

I live in France.
I'm currently at the beginning of the process of creating my business, the goal is to create a brand of aperitif snacks from organic and low-calorie products.

To launch my business I need 6000€ (6500$). Obviously, I don't have that kind of money!

To manage this financing, I'm planning to launch a crowdfunding campaign on a speciality website to take pre-orders for my products.

1/ Do you think crowdfunding is the right way to launch my product?

2/ Do you think my idea of healthy aperitif snacks can work?

$6500 sounds like an extremely low number to start a snack food brand. What does that cost cover, the first production run?


To your question though, yes, this is an appropriate use of crowdfunding, and it could work well to get the money you need.

But you need to know how to drive traffic to your listing. If you launch a crowdfund campaign, people don’t automatically start giving you money. You have to send people to the listing. Maybe you’ve run ads to generate a prelaunch email list. Or you have some other way to connect with a community and get them excited.
