Yesterday evening an idea for a product came into my mind. Of course I googled it just to see if I had been beatin to it and of course, I had. Luckily I only saw three competitors, all very small. Branding, image, PR, etc. are everything to this product, something all three lacked.
I think it is also important to note that although private label, it is not even close to 1 of 1,000's like so many private label prouducts. In fact I've never seen it anywhere in my life, no c-stores, walmarts, or anything. Sales in the industry, not the specific product its self, (its unique) totaled 11.8 billion last year.
Part of the product involves harvesting a natural resource though, and one of the companies offered private label services. What are your opinions on building a brand around a private label product? Later in time with growth I could set up my own system for harvesting the natural resource? Also, obviously, I could start harvesting it myself now at an extra cost up front, but I would be limited to growth at that point. What are your opinions on building a brand around a private label product? Can't wait to hear your responses, thanks.
