They aren't even monetizing as well as they could.

That's why it is *worth* $5 billion ... a greater than 60 times revenue is an insane valuation ... the valuation is based on the potential monetization, not the realized.

I know one problem with craigslist is that people have serious trust issues (and rightfully so) with going to someone's house to buy something in cash. Perhaps an independent business could be started that helps to establish trust with sellers on craigslist, some sort of "trusted seller" or "trusted buyer" certification. This could be especially profitable if you ran the email traffic through your business, as I know when I sell stuff on craigslist I have a problem with receiving scammer responses at the majority of the responses I get for an item.
