This was sent to me as a religious story, but it really can be translated to success in business and living a life of abundance. I know this isn't a place to be religious, but found the concept highlighted therein really a fastlane principle.

As I've wrote before, when your business focuses entirely on yourself (selfish motivations) you can starve and not get a piece of the pie. When you divert your business focus to the needs of others, you can get fat!

A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,

"Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like."

The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors

and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table.

In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled

delicious and made the holy man's mouth water. The people sitting around

the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were

holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and

each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful,

but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could

not get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.

The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."

They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the

same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large

pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were

equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were

well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, "I don't understand."

"It is simple" said the Lord.

"It requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other,

while the greedy think only of themselves."

So ...

Greed = Starve
Share = Get Fat

When I write "fat" I just don't mean money, but in personal fulfillment, making a difference in the lives of others, and living a life of abundance. :smx3:

Thanks for sharing that MJ!

It's interesting you posted this because I just started reading The One Minute Millionaire today and I look forward to getting farther into it. I have only gotten through the introduction so far. www.oneminutemillionaire.com

"What is the opposite of abundance? It’s not scarcity. It’s greed. Greed is the belief that there is not enough for everyone, so you’d better grab yours now. What is the opposite of love? It’s not hate. It’s fear. Fear is the belief that someone or something can hurt you."

"Ultimately, the product you sell is love—manifested and materialized."
- Robert G. Allen

The concept is more than "I scratch your back, you scratch mine", actually it is simpler...it is just sharing what you have because you understand their IS an abundance. In turn sharing helps provide your peers, community and society with improved morales and a win/win situation is created.

That's a great story, MJ. I've read it before and was hesitant to post here because of the religious nature, but I'm glad that you did. The road to prosperity is definitely paved by serving others.

:smx9: Tis. Whever I worry about making money I feel uneasy. Rather, when I think about serving others I find a peace knowing that no matter what I will be okay if I focus on serving others.
