Completely avoiding income tax seems impossible, unless you want to just not make any money (hmm??), but are there any good books/websites/sources you guys are aware of on different ideas or investments and what not on how you can keep your tax burden down?

Anything by Diane Kennedy is good stuff. Also, Bobby aka Global Wealth is dishing out some great advice.

There are many ways to minimize taxation and a few to eliminate it altogether, but they can be very complex strategies. If your income is sufficient, then it may make sense for you to research them.

The problem with this type of book is exposure. It can draw the wrong kind.

Nate, from the information you are giving, it's impossible to say what a good book is in your case, let alone the best book.

For instance, the tax system varies tremendously for a sole proprietorship compared to an S corporation or LLC.

Assuming you are from the US.

If your starting point is to first discover the tax situation before you start a company, then I think it's better to first start a company. Let's first find out how you fare, and if you're hugely successful or even a moderate success, then it's time for the tax questions.
