Beginner Young mortgage broker wanting to get into properly development

Hey guys,

So i'm 24. I've just started my career as a mortgage broker, I'd like to position myself to transition/do property development on the side. Don't get me wrong, i'm committed to my job now, I just want to get into property development as I make more money.

I'm wondering, what sort of mentors would you seek out? I don't think walking into property development firms and asking them to mentor me would work. My knowledge on my job is pretty low at the moment, but I figured once I learn more I can offer my knowledge about the banking sector in construction to these firms.

Does anyone have any books you'd recommend reading entry level about property development?

Anything else that could be relatable, I just wanted to ask people out there so i'm not going down a blind direction.
