We import goods from China and soon will be required to be VAT registered. Does anyone have experience of claiming VAT back when buying from China?

I work with a Freight Forwarder who will handle the import VAT, which I can claim back, but can I expect the supplier to charge me VAT for products alone?

Import costs:
- Cost of goods from Supplier
- Cost of shipping via freight forwarder (DDP so FF pays all import fees+VAT, I can claim VAT back)

Thanks
