I just wanted to share a video with my fellow lurkers who can't wrap their heads around MARKET FIRST STRATEGY.

I strongly insist you watch this video as it has helped me clarify what it means to first find an audience and then give them the solution they are looking for.

Mods: feel free to remove this if you think it's inappropriate.

TBH I'm just lazy to write out my findings, I'll do it later (maybe) I'm still a wantraprenuer.

"Become a student of markets."
"Give me a hungry market."

Great book. I'll read anything Gary Halbert b wrote, even if he was writing about rubber bands or paying taxes.

I actually own studentofmarkets.com

The first thing you must come to realize is that you must become a "student of markets"

You must learn what people want to buy.

And it's easy. The way to deduce what people want to buy is to simply observe what they DO buy!

But be careful. You want to know what people actually DO buy.

Many people OWN a Bible. They DISPLAY the Bible. Some even swear to the Bible. But damn-few people have ACTUALLY READ IT.

And if you want to be a top notch marketing man you have to know how it is. How it really is. Not how people (or you) wish it was or how they think it is. No. You must become a student of reality.

Think about it. What else would they be likely to buy?

How about more of the same?
(that's usually a good bet). Maybe, (probably) they'd be receptive to a hot new product offer.

-----------------

What's the last time you've been to best selling list on Amazon or Aliexpress looking for that hot new product idea?

Or were you ignoring this list because everybody else is selling it and there is nothing for you to gain?

How about starting off with taking what's already selling. Thinking why it's really selling (the global problem people are looking to solve). And creating such a compelling offer to them that they wouldn't be able to refuse?

eTox, shut up... That won't ever work. Look at you sketchy little bastard. What have you done? Jack shit a little more of none.

Market ↔ Angle ↔ Offer

I just wanted to continue a little bit with the audience theme here and drop some other valuable thoughts that have cleared up my foggy mind.

Market (who)

If you don't know who you are selling to and why they would want to buy what they buy how can you sell them in any way?

Specific Sub-Niche
Who are you specifically targeting within the niche? How can you make it specific for this audience to catch their attention and want them to act?

Unique Commonality
What do they have in common?

Passion or Problem
What are they super passionate about? What is the common problem this group of people have?

Money
Does this audience have money? Is this audience already used to spending a lot of money on their problem or passion?

Use common sense.

Targeting
How can you target this audience? How can you identify this audience on Facebook or Google through respective targeting methods?

What are these people already buying to solve their problem or help them be crazy about their passion?

Angle (how)

What's the emotional reason that you give this audience to buy? People buy on emotion and justify it with logic.

Big Idea
What's the big idea that you are selling to people? Something that inspires emotion: build a Hollywood physic.

Hit On Emotions
Emotions that evoke some of these emotions:
  • Aw
  • Wonder
  • Fear
  • Insecurity
  • Pain

The life-force 8
Tie them in with the natural human instincts
  1. Survival, enjoyment of life, life extension
  2. Enjoyment of food, beverages
  3. Freedom from fear, pain, and danger
  4. Sexual companionship
  5. Comfortable living conditions
  6. To be superior, winning, keeping up with the Joneses
  7. Care and protection of loved ones
  8. Social approval

Secondary learned wants
Sprinkle some additional desire with these extra "pain" points
  1. To be informed
  2. Curiosity
  3. Cleanliness of body and surroundings
  4. Efficiency
  5. Convenience
  6. Dependability / quality
  7. Expression of beauty and style
  8. Economy / profit
  9. Bargains

Offer (what)

What is the product that you are offering.
  • Discount / Sale (+50% discount OR dollar amount discount $20)
  • Free / express shipping
  • Bundle products together (related products that compliment + reason to buy bulk)
  • Urgency / Scarcity (limited time due to context and limited quantity such as hand made)
  • Bonuses (free info-product)
  • Payment options (2 payments of $19.99 is better than $39.99)
  • Guarantees (remove any reason for not buying the product due to risk)

What's the best offer you can make that will be reasonable for your audience and the angle you are perusing?

Imagine your customer is a super lasy bum who will only stand up and grab the credit card if he absolutely needs it right now because it's a crazy good deal specifically for them.

Two Way Street

Market ↔ Angle ↔ Offer

Let's say that you have found a product and researched the market for it. You know the people, their problems/passions and you have several angles that could potentially work for them. You have a product and you even found several compliments that you can upsell/cross-sell. But it's just not selling.

You can change up the offer and make it more compelling or different.

If the offer doesn't work try a different angle.

If none of the angles you tried work try another market. Who could possibly be interested in this product as well?

If none of that works, well there is a greater problem with the product. Perhaps you will need to build a back end marketing strategy with up sells and email promotions that will compensate for the high cost of acquisition.

The company that can afford the highest CPA by having the greatest LTV can out run all of the competitors in the end (think social casino games: $80-100 CPA lol).

Winning Products
don't exist, period.

99% of products worth selling have already been sold. Your job as an internet marketer is to find the right angle with the right offer for the right audience. Test until you find something that works.

You can sell most things successfully once you find the right combination of market, angle, and offer.

Kind of makes me wonder why one should go about learning copywriting first and only then attempting any type of business.

I mean THINK about it...

Most of the people that are advertising products on Facebook are drop-shippers like you and me. It's these little fcukers that are compulsively obsessed with getting the next Lamborghini and bawling like Dan Bilzerian with hot busty chicks in no time like there's no tomorrow!

What do they really care about?

They want to find just the right product that will turn their world upside down. A product that they can scale into millions so high it's going to break through the roof and shoot past the stratosphere.

What kind of research will they do?

Just think about the amount of effort they really put into it. Most are going crazy testing new products and looking for a hot new idea. They live like they're going to die tomorrow. I know it, I've been there.

They are too occupied searching for killer products

They don't have the time to really test a given product. They definitely don't have the energy to do so.

Why?

Imagine how frustrated he feels already. There are so many hot/best selling products to test... if only I'd get just one, then my life would change forever... that's what they tell themselves.

It takes too much energy and probably isn't worth it...

The amount of energy it takes to properly do research and think about the market, marketing angles, and different offers. That shit takes time and effort.

Why would our buddy do that? That's not how you'd really sell anything, would you?

Instead he would throw up a product and call it a day. Give the ads few dozen bucks and some time to play.

Then the results appear. None or few sales. It's either too expensive or right below break-even. He blames the product page. It's probably fonts or the logo... or maybe the price is too high. Or maybe this time I need 1000 instead of 72 reviews.

STOP

The problem is that you are obsessing over the wrong things.

What should you be doing then... ?
