I had Lasik eye surgery over 20 years ago and it changed my life. I like to ski and mtn bike and it was a game changer. Not cool getting something in your contacts while flying down a mountain at high speeds. The correction has remained about the same from day 1. Go for it!
Oh, and I agree its best to find an opthamologist to oversee as opposed to a cheap technician
Ditto!

Listen to me and then contact me in 6 months....

...I always needed glasses to see the board from the back of the classroom in school or else for driving at night in a new city: I couldn't read the street signs.

A buddy was taking bilberry extract and he told me it made his eyes great. He was taking way too much though. I started taking the pills little by little then I basically got on a regime of one a day. I can't say how long it will take to make but I can say that I no longer need glasses in the back of the room at work and can see well enough to not need glasses even in a big, new, dark, busy city. My eyes aren't perfect, but I haven't had LASIK.

People at work have gotten it in their 20s and have had complications. One of them had a full bottle of bilberry on her desk that she never used because "I don't think it will work." I tried to tell her she has absolutely nothing to lose and only nutrition and possibly better vision and no need for surgery to gain, but she didn't listen.

I give you the same advice. I've been buying it from Piping Rock but you can get it anywhere. Make sure the concentration is good enough.
Anecdotal stories are great, but what does a "good enough" concentration mean? What research has been done to determine an effective dose? What are the side effects?

I had it done and I highly recommend it. A great investment.

Had astigmatism in both eyes. Now my vision is perfect.

No more glasses or contacts. I can wear sunglasses now too. Made my life a lot easier, especially for exercising.

It's pricey but you can probably finance it like I did.

Another note here: when our friend here had it she was worried about totally losing her vision so someone suggested she do one eye at a time. She didn't, but, seemed like a good idea. I still like the bilberry extract idea.

They have "standarized extract" which I guess means you get, say, a guaranteed 1000 mg per capsule or something like that. I buy all brands but if it's like $2 I'm going to skip it and get something that's like $6 for 60 capsules. The Nature's Way brand is the most popular and one of the most expensive. I can get that at the grocery store but it's like $18 for I believe 90 or 120 capsules. If I run out of what I've bought online for cheap, however, I'm going to buy it regardless of price. Or just order some and wait a week. It's not like your vision is good only after you take it. If I didn't take it for a week I'd still be good.

I don't know of any research. Look it up. Someone told me it helps. That's all I needed.

Powder from foods doesn't usually have side effects like chemicals do. You could take the entire bottle and be totally fine. In the summer we pick blueberries and eat over a pound of them per day. Those days I don't need supplements! Good fiber and makes your poop dark but that's about it!

Hey,

had to chime in, since eyes is a topic I have a keen interest for.

Long story short, I have a real shitty vision since age 6, been wearing hard contacts since 11.
I've met my fair share of ophthalmologists and opticians.

I strongly recommend against doing LASIK. Basically you're butchering your eyes (peeling off and polishing your cornea)

I know, many people had successful treatment. But some people also fall from 4+ stories and make it alive.

A few years ago, I came across an interesting resource. It's a website and a YouTube channel called EndMyopia.

I've dug deep into the content. Watched almost all the videos and read dozens of article.
My advice is that you should too. You'll learn how myopia and the eyes / sight in general work.

The gist is this: myopia (or nearsightedness) is due to eye elongation. This elongation happened because of our lifestyle. But, contrary to what most "specialists" say, you can reverse the process.

The thing is: it's not easy nor quick. It's going to take rituals, training and time (at least a couple years).
But there's a fun analogy here with MJ's books: the LASIK is the Event. The quick fix. Or you can go with the Process, and improve your vision naturally.

Just so everything is clear, I'm in no way affiliated to the guy, I'm not promoting any of his stuff. I actually didn't buy anything from him (he tends to be a bit too salesy). But all the stuff he has online is enough to start the process.

I got Lasik 3 years ago and it was one of my best investments I have ever made. My vision is better now then it was with contacts/glasses. Even after paying 5k, there are several factors to consider with the costs:
Don't have to pay for contacts and contact solution anymore
Able to drop vision insurance because I had no need for yearly eye check ins
The hassle of contacts and glasses removed

Assuming you don't have to deal with vision issues, the 5k easily pays for itself with contacts & contact solution. Also, contacts have more risk then a single LASIK surgury. There is the risk of infection, constantly touching your eye, & when something is in your eye it hurts like hell. My eye doctor showed me my damaged tear glands, which was why I could barely wear my contacts for four hours without my eyes getting bothered (yes, I did test out different contacts.)

I have I got LASIK and I know at least 5 people that have and none of us have any issues. Even though I just gave anecdotal evidence, be careful with all of it. Over 90% of people are extremely satisfied with their LASIK. If you aren't a good candidate the surgeons don't let you have the surgury done. Just make sure you don't go to the discount surgeon :)

Based on the calculated risk, I don't think you can compare LASIK with jumping from a 4+ story building. Over 90% of people that get Lasik are extremely satisfied with the results. I would think jumping from a 4+ building has a higher risk and not much gain.

I don't really like the analogy of viewing LASIK as an "event". It is a modern procedure with tons of backing. A not so good analogy would be "well I can get better from chicken pox, measles or the flu by resting and taking it easy. I shouldn't get vaxinated before because that's the event easy way".

Just curious on the channel, are their any peer reviewed studies that back the results? Otherwise I would be skeptical. It seems this organisation makes its money by saying "the modern medical community is trying to keep us down" vibe. It seems more anecdotal evidence. Please correct me if I'm wrong, this was just at as a quick glance. Just hoping the thread has the most accurate facts and information!

Lasik is the best purchase I've ever made.
My eyesight is better than 20/20 and my eyes feel far better now that I'm not wearing contact lenses every day.
Do it.
You will not regret it.

After 15 years of day and night contacts, tomorrow I have booked appointment for SMILE laser in Helsinki. 2500€ for both eyes. Hoping that there will not be any additional expenses like dog or a white stick.

Had it done 4-5 years ago at the premier place here in the valley, it was $3k & I went from 20/200 to 20/20 in an afternoon. Love it. No negative side effects. Would do it again in a heartbeat, as I played sports/rode motorcycles/dirt toys, etc & wearing contacts was a PITA.
