Recently a friend of mine used MarketWire to publicize a service he wanted to offer, it took a few months but this business did take off quite well, he started getting customers who came from all over Ontario to use his services. It looked like a great way to get your niche out to the media and the people so they could see what you're offering.

I paid a guy 5 bucks who uses sbnewsire and he got it to show up on google news...

I dont think I would use it enough to pay for sbnewswire myself

I used it for an event and it did help me get some media coverage which lead to some good business.

I have used http://www.prweb.com/

Got some good exposure. The hits didn't convert to sales. Maybe my product/pitch.

Only complaint I have is the high pressure, up-sell, sales pitch that follows. They want you to commit to a monthly PR package with them and they don't like taking "no" for an answer. You have to be ready for it.
