So I've read that you should post an introduction to yourself and ping @MJ DeMarco , so that's what I'm going to do!
I'm a male and soon turning 16.
I live in Germany and my special abilities are:
-composing music*
-playing piano*
-and other minor skills that I've learned from books or somewhere else
*: I've been only doing music actively since Christmas, 2019
I've also read a few books like:
TMF , Deep Work by Cal Newport, The Subtle Art of not giving a f*ck, The definitive book of body language (mostly read), Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg, and I think that's it so far?
"How did you get here?":
There is quite a lot to unwrap to tell you the whole story and details, so I'll keep it "relatively" short.
Since Covid, me and my family had quite a lot of problems. Well we still have, but recently it was pretty okay.
Oh pardon me! I actually have to get a bit deeper to tell the whole story:
So, in 2018, I got into a new middle school (5th grade) and was gaming addicted. I had been playing games my whole life (since 3 years old perhaps?) and I finally wanted to become an e-sportler (note that I only had a PS4 lol).
To add: My class teacher had me in English and German and she was really strict, and if you forgot your homework, things or signatures by your parents 3 times, you'd get an "F" in the Oral part of your grade (which was 50% of the whole grade).
And well, maybe you can see where the problem lies.
Stress + addiction doesn't pair well.
In short: I'd get home everyday and play Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege or whatever the heck I was playing.
In the best case scenario at the time, I'd do my homework at 10pm (I had to wake up at 6:45am or earlier or you'd come late to school) and go have some healthy 6-7 hours of sleep.
And the worst case scenario was: I'd play all day till 11pm and wake up the next morning at 4am or earlier to do homework. Often I'd just oversleep. I had like 6 alarms set for each night.
Results? Incredibly much stress, the worst sleep cycle I think I ever had, many Fs and becoming miserable.
And normally, I would've failed 5th grade back then, but because of my great English skills and the fact that I was always speaking in English in English classes, she made go to 6th grade.
BTW: one fifth of the whole class failed.
While I might have suffered insanely back then and perhaps even got slightly traumatised (though I can't answer that), I still forgive her. She changed in 6th grade to the better and she challenged me the most in English classes somebody ever has.
And perhaps she and this event is the reason I'm here?
Anyways, let's get going:
We now have summer holidays and 5th grade just ended.
What did I do?
I quit video games. (thank god, though not for the last time)
I began going out with classmates and having fun.
We were mountainbiking so much back then.
I could tell you how I fell off a hill and basically poisoned my first date (not with evil intentions), but I am going to be short:
I was having a lot of fun and was kinda a giga chad at that time.
Now we have november 2019.
I basically found my inspiration to continue piano practise and had cut off my friends because "I need time to practise piano" , even though I had all the time you could ask for back then.
I was a douche and procrastinated on piano as well.
I was going to be lonely, for a whole year.
I got my own private digital piano on Christmas 2019 and started to get going.
Basically, I just practised piano a little bit (for my standards), started a youtube piano music cover channel, was hanging around in my online discord community to not completely socially die and was okay in school, but had no real life friends.
(to my youtube channel: I never really posted actively, so it's basically just a dumpster)
Then December 2020 came.
I got into contact with my classmates per Discord again and we hung around in Discord, them playing videogames and me just talking per phone.
I got my first gaming PC in 2021 (January) then and played with my friends videogames.
We played Minecraft and many other games and we had such a good time.
But as the saying goes: "You either die as a hero or you live long enough to become the villain", we did exactly that.
My friends (and me pretty much too) became toxic and I wanted to leave. But where would I go if I had no friends again?
In short: I finally quit completly playing with them in march 2022.
And then 2022 (January) came.
I was watching a self improvement Youtuber and he inspired me to improve myself.
To be completely honest, I'm still kind of in self-improvement hell (the state where you can't get every habit to stick, basically) but I've drastically improved since then.
I am able to read for books hours on end, meditate regularly, practise piano for longer times (I practised for 2 hours today) and many other things.
And that's how I got here.
I might have forgotten some important things somewhere down the line here, but that's mostly it.
Oh, I just remembered:
"Why are you here exactly?"
There are a lot of limitations in my life that are caused by lack of money.
Of course I have drinking water and my parents are subscribed to netflix, but I want to taste everything to full extent (or in other words: Freedom).
I want to buy myself a grand piano that I will probably love more than my future wife and let my parents retire.
I want to study/make music without sitting under a bridge (lol) and generally live like I want to and unravel my full potential.
Oh, I also don't want to work 9/5.
If I can get to money while I'm still in school, I'll basically have so many possibilities in the future.
So yeah, that's what I'm going to try. Get Rich.
