It's no secret that a lot of the book reviews on Amazon are written by the author or people representing the author. The way I usually get around this is to start reading everything EXCEPT the 5 star ratings. As soon as I start reading the 4 star ratings, the style of writing clearly changes.
Legitimate customers rarely include long book titles and authors' names in their review. If a review reads something like this: "In his book The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, Eckhart Tolle brilliantly describes..." then you are probably reading a phony review.
