This past weekend I watched an interaction who's roots are buried in anything related to hard work and a desirable outcome.

In this case I was with my brother at a BBQ. Outside of my brother's 9-5 he's an aspiring fitness model, and you can tell. Nothing pompous - but you look at him and it's very clear he works hard in the gym and lives a healthy lifestyle. The guy is cover-of-Men's-Health-ready at all times.

I'll spare you the details since you can probably guess where this is going, but a distant cousin saddled-up next to him and start asking questions about how to "get ripped" (while eating a cheeseburger and drinking a beer).

My brother tried to answer but was quickly met with a list of "I don't have time" and "I can't give up beer" etc., etc.

Afterwards I asked my brother why he answered when it was clear that this individual hadn't even taken so much as a baby step towards being in shape. He was even too blind to notice the irony of the burger and beer (and my brothers salad, broccoli slaw and flank steak).

My brother said that one of these times it will stick and the advice cost him nothing to give. It was his public service announcement.

Anyway, thanks to all you folks out there dishing out advice relentlessly. Keep it up, even when you're asked "is this fastlane?!?11?!" Maybe it's the right thing to do or maybe you're bored or maybe it feels like something charitable. All of those answers are fine.

Enjoy the holiday.

You just described this forum. A lot of great advice here, but only a small % of the visitors will take that advice and apply it. We're here for that small % because you never know who you might inspire to a big life change!
