I've seen an add for a biz called BOUQS.COM (they sell flower bouquettes) and this app called DOSH which I'm not sure what it does but it seems one of those that disappear quickly... and it reminded me of this thread.

"Dosh raises $40M on $300M valuation as its cash back app passes $50M doled out to shoppers" -

I'm sure they'll be around for a little while longer.

Not all 5L.com will have a value, as well as only some patterns of 6L will have value.
For example every CVCVCV.com with premium letter are 99% taken

True. Most names like Andy Black's Yondal.com would be completely gone in no time.

As I said in the post, this is not about flipping sites or domains.
This is about short and sweet pronounceable dot coms that are brandable. Not really about what contains the most optimal keywords, or can be flipped for the most.

I'm talking about a name you can build a brand with. Something with long term use that can be sold in the future as a business, not contingent upon the domain name per se.

I wouldn't say length is irrelevant. The shorter and more pronounceable it is, the easier it is to recall and type in.
As you have said yourself "The only thing that matters is, can someone remember the domain without writing it down."
I own the domain name Axerd.com and want to build a site with and make it a brand it’s 5 letter and memorable and easy to say

I think Bouqs was on Shark Tank if I remember correctly. I think the sharks hated the brand name but I kind of like it. Memorable and does remind me of flowers which is the whole point. Great thread!

Slightly out of topic. But, I found this website MEME | Search All the Funny Memes & Meme Generator By looking at the domain, we know what's the site is all about. And it's only two letters - me.me

The only issue with domain names like that is most people will end up typing meme.com, if they're trying to find that site. Luckily for them, meme.com is not developed, so they won't lose too much traffic to it.

How much value is there in a long winded .com name versus a shorter .io or .us or .whatever ?

Answered my own question:

Also this is a helpful tool, although we're a bit off topic now :)

There is still a decent number of 5-letter dot coms available. The problem is finding one that is "brandable," and doesn't sound like gibberish.

Domains are weird.

'vegbug.com'' is available
so is crzum.com
and plvzu.com
also rigto.com
along with scuym.com
found gruxs.com

Short domains exist ya just gotta be creative.
That's why a gay dating app is grindr and
And taxi service is uber
A mistype redefined.

There is also clopz.com for ... 2k??!
also found glup.com for $49,999.00 :blank:
crunz.com for $10,000.00
luvoe.com for $10,000.00
spix.com for $10,000.00
floj.com for 14,995.00
linw.com for $ 2,732.00

... Yknow I'm starting to think someone is hoarding domains .

I wouldn't even pay $10 for any of the 5-letter ones you listed, other than rigto.com.
