Thanks johnp,

I understand what you are saying, but I still think there's a difference.

Like I said:

There's a reason the top IM guys make a few millions, and the top start up guys top the forbes list with billions.

Think about it this way:

Every seed grows into a tree. But if you plant a lemon tree, you can't expect it will ever reach 200 ft. tall

johnp,

My point, really, is that I think there are structural differences between a business and what I call a 'real business'.

You can make a lot of money with blogs using adsense, or selling WSO's on warrior forum, or having some gigs on fiverr, or having a MLM downline, or selling some stuff on ebay.

I can see what you mean structurally, but who cares about how it starts. You can fix the structure later.

Let's say I start drawing cats for $5 on Fiverr. Eventually I get a ton of orders and my own website. Now I have to hire people to help me draw cats. I rent an office with 5 other artists in there. All we do is draw cats all day.

Revenue is $2000 a day, I have payroll, rent, utilities... etc

I make money drawing pictures of cats all day.

Is this not a real business to you? Would I never get investors? ;)

A "real" business will always be a subjective term. For some, obtaining time freedom is what they want. And that is a worthy goal and outcome in my view.
