Instilling the Fastlane in our children

Not sure if this is what you had in mind ... but I've seen a couple of educational "camps" created and taught by individuals, which serve to install classic money-making/money-saving techniques to children. However, I think the youngest age is something like 2nd or 3rd grade level. I realize...

Postal Service: 7,500 workers, $20,000 buyouts

    INVESTING
Isn't there a provision in one of the early documents (Constitution? Amendment? Other?) that basically says the federal government HAS to have a mail system? I know it can probably be scratched with a majority vote, but I think until then there HAS to be such a system.

    Have web-based opportunities peaked?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Too many people are fixated on what technology has to offer TODAY. They see a web browser, an internet, some web sites, and think "It has been done", but refuse to see that technology is a process that is constantly evolving. Think the internet in terms of a technological process, and not just...

You're going to have to do it again MJ

I did a double-take on this as I thought it said "Baldness" ... lol

So I took pity on this guy and tried to help him.

    PEOPLE HOT!
I've tried to give free real estate advice to many people, and almost without fail, they would do the same thing (i.e., laugh and/or come up with 100 reasons why it wouldn't work). Unless I know for sure the person will take the free advice, I don't even bother any more. As others have said so...

Suze is a fraud. We all know it.

No one wants to retire old. No one wants to work. Everyone wants to be rich (right now). Everyone wants to retire (right now). But the sad reality is that ~95% WON'T be rich and WON'T retire now (and for many, never really retire) no matter what they COULD do. That is a HUGE audience.

    Dumbest businesses you've ever tried.

When I was around 8 I had this fantastic idea of making home-made pinball machines. Well, not really pinball, but more like those ball dropping game machines. Made my first one and charged family members 5 cents for three balls. My mom gave me a dime for two tries out of pity.

    Stuck on Directory Site

I agree. It's a nice site, but it looks like there is a lot of blank/white space on the right side (at least in my browser). As if there is a column (half the width of the content div) there, but nothing in it.

    I've Read The Millionaire Fastlane!

    GOLD! HOT!
After getting it as a present to both my wife and myself (I know, cheesy), I finally finished it last night. I have to say I was really blown away by a lot of the points MJ makes distinguishing between fastlane and slowlane. I was always of the mindset that what I was doing investing in SFR's...

Anyone bought Real Estate using a personal bank loan? FTB D:

    REAL ESTATE
First off, do NOT put $125k down for a $150k home that will be your personal residence. If you do, your money will be locked up in the home when it could be out there making MORE money for you. If you can, find a good mortgage broker who can find you a reasonable loan given your circumstances...

    Resources: Choosing a domain name?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Another piece of advice from a psychological POV is to try to limit the number of syllables in the domain name. It can be long as far as characters, but people tend to gravitate (cognitively) towards words/phrases with smaller number of syllables. For example: diary (5 letters, 3 syllables)...

    I've Read The Millionaire Fastlane!

    GOLD! HOT!
Yea, I thought so, too. Maybe a "get before it's gone" marketing ploy? Actually, looking at their site again, the "2 new" refers to two sources - not two books.

    I've Read The Millionaire Fastlane!

    GOLD! HOT!
I just ordered the book at Amazon (which said there were only two left before I bought it), and it should arrive before Christmas. Am looking forward to reading it and giving my review. BTW, how many business owners here will be writing this off as a business (i.e., educational) expense? ;-)

    How would you approach facebook?

    WEB/DIGITAL
Actually, I thing there is a HUGE market for a new social startup. Facebook is good, but they are VERY far from great. There are MANY things they could improve upon, but a lot is tied into their early infrastructure years. A new social networking site built from the ground up with better...

    Randomly Testing Your Limits

    OFF-TOPIC
    * Quitting smoking is probably one of the hardest things to do. For anyone that never got "hooked" imagine someone telling you not to piss all day and when you get up the next morning not too do it then, either. The physical as well as psychological urges are almost as tough with tobacco...

    EXECUTION
Plus, who knows what the agreement b/w the two parties was for, specifically. In the movie, it seems that a lot of Mark's idea's that separated his idea from others, like MySpace and Friendster, came AFTER his product was gaining steam. Maybe the original agreement was just for a barebones...

Also, I liked how after he got the web site started, he understood the concept of networking - IOW, sharing the load. At first it was him, then him and his two room mates (one to help with programming and one to help with the business side), and later in Cali, it was him and several more...
