So my flexible day job is Interpretation over the phone, i log into the system set myself as "ready" and wait, it can be seconds to many minutes of waiting in between calls.
I was attempting to vibe code my app at the same time, in between calls, during breaks etc, but i find once i start concentrating on my app, I lose any motivation to do my job.
It doesn't help my job is soul sucking as hell anyway.
I have found that reading a non fiction book in between phone calls, getting rid of all communication with the rest of the world or any other tasks, this helps zone into my day job. I just read and work read and work, and at the end of 4-5 hours i got my income for the day and got some good reading done.
Getting interrupted while reading nonfiction is so far has been the least mentally annoying thing.
sometimes i draw too between calls.
But getting interupted while im zoning in on some research on app implementation details feels like a knife through my brain, very frustrating.
I think maybe best approach is to knock out my day job hours first combined with reading, take physical break like sports, lunch, whatever, and then later come back to computer work again and this time work on my app business with the relaxation of knowing my job for the day is done.
Cause today for example, i started off with my app business and i was planning to do phone calls for work in between Vibe Code prompts, but i ended up having to do a bunch of research on stuff and i lost all motivation to do my day job and that just causes stress cause i NEED to work to pay my rent, no single day of laziness will kill me, but it means i have to do work more the next day or over several days, versus spreading the hours out over every day results in less soul sucking work on any given day.
