Did the escape number exercise yesterday. Phew, that is expensive. But what is nice is the idea that you can approach it by following what was layed out in the 1/5/10 Planasy.

I came up with the equivalent of 25.3 million dollars for all the things I envisioned. This takes into consideration my potential tax rate as well as a ROI of 5%.

Will be fun to evaluate the monthly goals / 30 days to see how I am progressing towards these goals.

Another task of yesterday was to come up with a first brainstorming for my planned Influence Documentary (see above, my 1 yr goals). So here it is

Picture1.jpg

What I found quite interesting, that sometimes you own stuff (like this whiteboard) for quite some time but rarely ever use it. And then you are inspired and - boom - all of sudden you use only that in the way you envisioned to use it.

I also started running today again. Only a small 3k but after months of doing nothing. Felt awesome and it is a great way for me to start into the day.

Yesterdays tasks / achievements
  • Read until chapter 15 the escape number strategy (pg 78) --> DONE
  • Calculate the escape numbers --> DONE
  • Run a 3k (to get into it again) --> DONE
  • Script podcast episodes 48 to 51 (until Friday) --> DONE
  • Brainstorm topics for YouTube documentary --> DONE

Discovery of the day

Each tool has its time

1627418702768.png

Tasks for tomorrow
  • Do the exercises for ARM (Autoresponder Madness) for chapters 1 and 2
  • Record module 1 lesson 2 of the online course
Side note: I will get my second vaccination shot tomorrow. So if I am one of those people that suffer severe headache or missing sleep or something, I might rather skip those or replace them with something easier to execute on.

Phils brain ramblings

Originally I wanted to record lesson 2 of the video course and then work on my email list.

Midway through the recording I found out that my partner has not performed the way I expected her to.

Let me explain: My partner was supposed to go over my script for the lesson. She's an English native speaker and her words usually sound better than mine. But after I set up my home studio (green screen, lighting, mic, presentation, lights etc.) and went halfway through the recording I recognized it was somewhat messy.

Messages were not formulated out, some jibberish in there, some sentences that don't make sense, some sentences that end in the middle of it. We had agreed that this one is scripted already.

What really annoys me is not that it's not done, but that I have not read through it before and that I relied too much on others for core tasks (scripting a lesson of an online course is maybe as core as it gets).

Definitely a learning for me.

The good thing is that I have rewritten great parts of it and now it sounds like I want it to. So the original task is not yet done, but now it has content, I love.

Today I didn't do anything at all because I also fell asleep today during a video conference in my day job. Guess that's the vaccine kicking in.

Quite some tasks for tomorrow (same as recorded yesterday)

But at least I wanted to post my update here...

Losing a little bit grip. Basically - just like yesterday - got nothing done today.

Definitely will do the two remaining runs for this week tomorrow and on Sunday and then see about the other tasks.

Let's see, maybe it makes sense to print out my 30 day plan to always have them visible in front of me.

Right on man! Keep at it.
Thanks, man! :)

Fun story: we were celebrating with the family yesterday and I said to my brother in law that I decided for a new bike (you know, the triathlon goal, see above) and all he had to say (aiming for a quick laugh): so then you are MAMIL (middle aged man in Lycra) which I found a bit insulting.

If you challenge people's belief systems with things you actually do or start, they immediately start to fight their beliefs.

I personally think the underlying mechanic is this: I am not an extremely gifted person, just a regular guy who wants to pursue his dreams. I am like him. And maybe that annoys him because he might think: if Phil can do this, so can I in theory. But eventually I need to leave my comfort zone to do so. Phil does and I don't.

So they start to fight because it's these small stings (as they might feel it) that entices such actions.

I think I remember @MJ DeMarco saying somewhere that it's the process (the training, the hours spent, the pain endured etc) that counts and not the event (the medal)

Good stuff. Keep going.
If you ever need any guidance on the swim/bike/run - shoot me a text. Better yet, read this book and it will save you hundreds of wasted hours:

Alright, quite some interesting things happened over the past few days.

First of all: I finally got a racebike (the first in my life), so I can train for a triathlon in spring time. Got it yesterday and this moring I did a quick ride on it. Completely different to any bike I had before, but that was to be expected.

Fun thing is that although I am quite grumpy the moment I stand up (and the next 10 minutes or so), I am still a morning person. Guess that's biorhythm. That's why I also get a lot more things done in the morning. My podcast is recorded and streamed in the morning.

These report outs will also happen in the morning from now on

So what else did I achieve? I worked on the empathy map for my potential customers and this takes longer than expected. To a certain extent it mimics a colleague of mine. And she is 100% in my target audience. But it was interesting to take a deep dive into what motivates her etc.

Unfortunately I did not work on lesson 2. One thing I need to do for myself eventually is to break down the monthly plan into more daily plans. If I want to have module 1 finished by Aug 25th, what does that actually mean for the 3 remaining weeks? I really need to work on that.

With the new bike, I will also add a few bike rides to the schedule.

Spend power to receive power (as in the morning bike run, which energizes me)
