But that's the thing! The purpose is not to hope or vote for politics you want and wait to be satisfied like a fat guy ordering an ice-cream.

Your purpose is to set up your life so you don't need politicians, and whatever actions they take have no impact.

Agreed. Thus the premise of the thread. Moving somewhere you like better.

I’m fully in on that goal and wish I had done this before I got as deeply rooted in business here.

As an American, the USVIs look like the best bet now. Low taxes. Keep my passport. Not going to become a state.

If they manage to screw that up, I’ll renounce and move to the Caymans or Bahamas.

I knew I'd convince you of USVI. Just hope others don't crowd it before I am able to reach my goal of living there! Lol!

Bulgaria - affordable, low taxes, good climate and business infrastructure.

And last in the EU in terms of freedom of speech. Which is what OP's running from in the UK.

For reference:

Bulgaria freedom index ranking: 116th

United Kingdom freedom index ranking: 33rd

Journalists with above-average IQ tend to disappear and are frequently "suicidal". If they're of the female persuasion, they often get raped beforehand.

Kind of like the way another Slavic giant handles inquisitive journalists, except instead of highly-trained killers you get a gypsy beating at you with a shovel until you're dead because they threatened to kill him.

Example: Viktoria Marinova

A journalist that was reporting on alleged misuse of EU funds linked with some big names. Went out for a run in broad daylight.

"In the afternoon of October 7, 2018, Marinova's body was found in a riverside park in Ruse, which is a popular walking and jogging spot for the citizens of the town. She had been beaten and raped"

Raped and murdered at the age of 30, leaving a husband without a wife and a child without a mother.

"Prosecutors stated that the attack appeared to be a random sexual assault unconnected to Marinova's work as a journalist."

From Wikipedia:

Marinova was the administrative director of TVN Television in Ruse. She presented a current affairs talk programme called Detector for Ruse's TVN television[2] which had recently been relaunched. The first episode of the show on September 30 included with investigative journalists Dimitar Stoyanov and Attila Biro, about an investigation of alleged fraud with EU funds linked to big businessmen and politicians.[3] The second episode that had been planned to air afterward would have covered the Hitrino train derailment accident,[4] which resulted in the death of 7 people and injured more than 29 others.[5] According to Bulgarian investigative journalists, the same companies that had been involved with the alleged fraud with EU funds, had also won a public procurement deal in the Hitrino case.[4] Among the suspects are Russian citizens, associated with the Bulgarian division of "Lukoil".[6]

Hundreds of thousands of us signed a request for a thorough EU investigation. Never happened.

Anyway, if you don't care about politics (or at least aren't vocal about it) you'll be perfectly fine. Probably.

Valid point for the freedom of speech.
However, Marinova's assault has nothing to do with her activity (she was completely unknown small time journalist to be of interest to someone).
There are much more aggressive and popular journalist who are attacking the government for years and are alive and well.
I personally know one of them :)

The freedom of speech index is hardly an objective measure. It is provided by Reporters Without Borders, an extreme left-wing/woke organization.

What would you consider an objective measure?

She wasn't attacking the government, but the EU and Lukoil.

And framing a gypsy (or forcing one to kill someone else to save his own life) is a very convenient cover-up.

This girl, let her rest in peace, was not a treat to anyone.
She was working in a small regional media and no one would ever understand about her investigation if this unfortunate event didn't occur.
I don't know about you, but I leave in this country (have lived also in few others) and be sure that such accusations are unserious, to say the least.

Yup, it is. Gives one a seriously distorted version of the world. Most of it's rubbish anyway i.e. you're arguing with a sock puppet in a bot factory in Ukraine.
Hahaha YES! That's hilarious. Bots are out of control too. But yeah, I find that the anime avatars are the worst!!

Honestly, I can last 10 minutes on Twitter before I'm ready to give up on humanity.

Social media started off as fun but now most people are completely addicted or feel that they can't leave because they run a business. It's so exhausting.

I'm waiting for the day that people give up on social media in favour of real world interactions!

I'm a person of colour so it's not about racism - it's being implemented into laws now, people are being imprisoned for twitter comments and memes where I am - be grateful that you are ignorant to the bs here
I think there is literally no place in this world you can say whatever you want.

Every society/place/country has the power that be and the people you cannot criticize, and laws your do not agree with.

It is all give and take.

You don’t have to agree with the politics/policies/dominant values of a nation to enjoy the benefits it brings.

In my country there is death penalty for drug trafficking, and male homosexual acts can lead to imprisonment. Not something I can find myself agree to on a philosophical level.

But the Benefits:
Zero capital gain tax (wow!)
Low income tax (great)
Ease of doing business (high ranking)
Affordable access to quality health care (If you are a citizen)

I don’t find myself moving any time soon to anywhere to give up benefits that matter to me for abstract matters that don’t affect me personally.
