As someone who has gone through the same thing and worse , I concur with everyone who said to focus on your business, grow your own positive review and improve your listing.

I have a strong feeling you guys didn't read the openingspost carefully. Competitor left a negative review on my page, then i left a review on his page and now he posts another review on my page. Doesn't that tell you that the first review was indeed from him?? If he didn't leave the review, then he wouldn't suspect me to leave a review on him. My review wasnt even that negative, it was 3 stars...

There are services out there that sends hundreds of bad reviews to your competitor's page. Not telling you to do that, but it's a potential option if he goes too far......

First of all, thanks to everyone for their input.

I left a 3-star review, because I was not sure it was him/her. Now today, I am 100% sure it was him, because he left a second review of 1 star (3 days after I left the review) and completely destroying the product and saying at least 1 thing that I am sure is 100% false, since I know the product very well.

I contacted amazon about it, they will look into it. I didn't tell them that the second review was most likely a response to the review I left on their product page. Because if I do, maybe it brings me into a bad spotlight. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.

Now I wish I didn't leave the bad review for them, since it made the problem worse. But I learned my lesson, I guess.

All in all, this is very demotivating and things like these make me lose faith in humanity.
I'll say it if nobody else will... responding in kind was childish.
you can possibly erase your review on amazon that you left for him, I would suggest doing so as soon as you have the opportunity.

A pissing match if you will.. would depend who has the most money and energy... And will drive both your businesses into the ground. There is absolutely no upside to this.

Business advice that I strongly adhere to: do not bash a competitor! I've learned over the years to not say, this is better than that model, because it has 3500 rpm while the competition has 3000 rpm.. rather say: we figured out a way to make a faster drill, without wearing out faster, and we really believe in our product. Here, let me show you how fast it can do this job... Oh, and we ended up using what they call a "variable speed thingie" so that you can slow it down if your drilling through very hard things and need it to go slow.

Tldr:show your customers why your product is better, but do it in a way without bashing a particular competitor. And tell your sales guy you won't tolerate competition bashing!

Why repeat yourself with the same sentence about it being childish? I think your opinion on that is not valid since this was not about taking revenge, this was about evening the playing field.

Anyways, you advice on not bashing the competitor is very good and I put it in my notes. I haven't done that, but still good to keep in mind. Thank you.

competitor bashing is a pet peeve with me and the guys in our biz - as in, I don't want to hear it... but it's so tempting to do it. Forgive me if I'm too passionate about such things.

It's a very ego-centered thing this competition, I don't like it at all. Doesn't contribute to peace (in my mind). It brings negativity when done in a bad (dirty) way.

The problem is his competitor is causing trouble for him first.....

So another 3rd negative review has been placed, again what has been written is clearly a reaction by him/her.

@biophase You asked me whether the review I left from him was traceable back to me. It isn't. Would you still advise me to remove the review I left for him, hoping that he will stop?

I am also thinking of creating a new product page, but maybe that wouldn't help since he can do the same thing on my new page

Very lost on what to do. This product accounted for most of my profit.
