In broad terms, a model to follow or even category to explore? , jump on linkedin, get the free premium sales navigator offer.

Go look at the preset "industries" categories. Pop them in individually and take a peak at the results.

Notice anything?

Saas as a service ("computer software") dominates, absolutely crushing it in terms of numbers but you have plenty of opportunity in computer networking / security / logistics and business supply , so broadly speaking "b2b" is massive

go get on zoominfo or owler and look at the revenue for these companies (or just look at how many employees they have) , some of these companies "about" sections read like greek to me, its niched down into things I didn't even know existed and yet they have 30, 50, 100, 1000 employees?

Think about it, all those mouths being fed by b2b transactions in an area of business you didn't even know existed. 3 or 5 year old companies with 8 figure valuations.

Take a look see.

Not that I`m looking, because I have my hands full ATM, but how does checking out companies on linkedin translate to ideas?
Do you mean that you may find a company solving a niche problem which has no solution where you are located, or?

Well, gets your thinking outside tunnel vision mode.

Specific ideas as well though , they have a software solutions for silly a$$ things you'd never have thought of , and the companies make enough money to have dozens of employees and tens of million in valuations.

They have consultants selling consulting to consultants (and then outsourcing the actual consulting to new grads who probably get trained with pdf's)

part of my outreach script I have to fill in what the product or service is right? I find myself scratching my head all the time "who's paying for this?" , see because my personal experiences are narrow so its all greek to me

"...facilitates strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and investor reporting. Our solutions enhance these activities by streamlining operations, reducing risk, improving client experiences and increasing visibility..."

?...something something, data analaytics maybe?

"...Content Performance Marketing platform helps brands Target Demand, Create and Optimize Content, and Measure Results to win on the content battleground. BrightEdge transforms online content into tangible business results, such as traffic, revenue, and engagement. Our platform is powered by an Artificial Intelligence ..."

smart

"...cloud-based electronic message archiving, supervision, and eDiscovery solutions for the global financial sector and other highly regulated industries..."

425 employees, doing...whatever that is.

"...Providing comprehensive services for application inception, development, and modernization..."

comprehensive services, well thank the lord, here i've been using the non comprehensive ones my whole life!

"...the only industry-recognized solution that uniquely converges Single Sign-on (SSO), adaptive multifactor authentication (MFA), enterprise mobility management (EMM) and user behavior analytics (UBA). With Idaptive, organizations experience secure access everywhere, reduced complexity, and have newfound confidence to drive new business models and deliver kick-a$$ customer experiences..."

I wonder if that reads not like buzzwords if network security is your day to day gig? , made me feel secure just reading it, and the service is kick a$$. Hell every acronym in that is probably a rabbit hole of dozens of other businesses itself.

It reads exactly like a buzzword salad void of meaning.
Maybe they have staff, clients and money, but their services are unclear.

But again, I dont get how this gave you ideas for a business.
For example: "the only industry-recognized solution that uniquely converges Single Sign-on (SSO), adaptive multifactor authentication (MFA), enterprise mobility management (EMM) and user behavior analytics (UBA)."
What ideas does this give you?

user behavior analytics (UBA)

well my business already is user behavior analytics but a cursory look at these others "enterprise mobility management " , this buzzword had its own wiki , maybe like a firmware solution so that someone in a business setting only has to remember one password (or only uses fingerprint or an RFID coming from a badge) for all devices? , not a computer guy mind you

heres one from today , "a comprehensive solution for HR, Payroll, Time and Attendance and Benefits Enrollment " , thats simple, HR software, boom an idea.

software not your thing? , employing this method its come to my attention that an entire world of little hang on businesses exist for all sorts of things happening just under our noses everyday. Software in some cases sure but i'm talking the actual business models , so i'm looking at one thats transportation and logistics, do they actuall have trucks ? hmm...no it looks like they consult - they tell you how to fix whats wrong with your supply chain issues and then they sell you the solutions they've already built out for those problems, double dipping. so its products (software and services) and consulting in 6 different areas, surely a one man band isn't actually proficient knowledge wide in this many areas - I assume they have outsourced a large portion of this and expanded since the company started.

lets see, under "business supplies and equipment"...safety and industrial supplies , companies been around 30 years, found the vp of sales of just marine related items. Thats a niche for you. Found another company that charges you a consulting fee and then sells you whatever they've decided is best for you - and they aren't reps for just one brand (looks like they have epson, brother, konica minolta etc) as well as a computer networking and server division (you could be the "consultant" and just pay some actual IT guy peanuts to tell you answers for actual legitimate concerns, then put in the contract that you'll give them continued support and again, take a slice off the top and have the actual IT talent doing that boom, business)

found a company that brings local roasted coffee into businesses, I don't like it, doesn't scale well IMO and that'd be the first thing i'd cut if I was belt tightening but i'm sure it does well in silicon valley.

check this tripe out..."we’re experts in creating environments that inspire the passionate leaders, analytical problem-solvers, and creative go-getters who inhabit them. Because to us, it’s so much more than just a space. It’s life. "

so they charge you an arm and a leg to send an interior designer into your office and feng shui the place up, again, I don't love it in terms of "yeh people totally need this" but...219 employees and 45 million in revenue.

got one, since 1935, "Materials Handling Equipment " , forklifts and conveyor belts and things, maybe not great as I feel like you probably should know what the hell your talking about but didn't occur to me until just now that this was a specialization (of course it is, why wouldn't it be?)

backing out a bit...oh! found a guy who scouts out junk and then licences it for "as seen on tv" and big box retailers, so he's working as an independant agent and just middle manning chinese junk, except he isn't drop shipping or paying for the items or anything he just licences for less then he sells for...

ahh, ok, this guy (probably getting crushed now) organizes the advertisements you see at big sports games and events, like the banners on the side of the arena, apparently enough money exists in this that independent folks with the right connections can make a go at it. So I knew companies were advertising at sporting events but I assumed it was all handled in house, not so. Now I know.

Weird insurance agency that specializes in...unusual stuff. Ever had to insure an item when only one exists? or something bizarre like idk a narwhal? I found the guys. I think you need investors to make an insurance company fly though.

Don't worry, they sell to people using exactly same salad so they communicate quite well.

Back on topic: it reminds me of unsexy websites that Fox talked about.
You know you won't see those businesses in yet another guru's video on youtube.

Now I'm in an official panic. I know NOTHING about computer software, computer networking, logistics or security, or business supply. Yet almost everything that I'm reading tells me that's THE ANSWER.

The ONLY answer.

I don't know the first thing about writing code of any kind, let alone logistics or security or networks. Is that all there is??? What if I don't want to fool around with computer stuff??

Search another category? , but if you just want to take a product to market then you don't need business model inspiration you just need a product idea so this threads not for you.

A lot of money in b2 though , maybe you could think of a b2b company you could start locally?
