I own a successful e-commerce company since 2010, we have a mailing list with tens of thousands of customers for our hobby industry. I've been surprised to see not too much info on renting your mailing list out online, plenty on how to rent one yourself but not rent out. I'd like to rent as well to start some experimenting, but looking to rent ours out as well.

What do you mean by renting it? Would you be sending the emails on behalf of other people, or would they get access to the list and send the emais themselves?

At least in Europe, I'm almost sure that it's ilegal to contact customers I've they haven't explicitly agreed to recieve emails by that company.

Renting it out to a brokerage that rents mailing lists to other vendors. I guess I am having a bit of a "duh" moment here on the legality of it, I know this is common in standard mail but I guess it makes sense given the e-mail privacy laws.

I agree with at @arl here, it is indeed illegal, at least in the United Kingdom - especially with GDPR now.

This is common, it's called solo ads. The biggest platform for buying/selling access to lists is udimi.com
