I know a business, which is not at Google Maps. It is at the edge of bankrupt since years. I believe, when it would be on GM, it could have a real good improvement.

Last year, when I was there, I told that family my thoughts. They repelled my advice and I didn t go further.

Now my further thoughts : listing them at Google Maps for free and taking maybe 10 percent of their improvement.

But I don t see any possibility to realize that, because how could I determine their improvement? They never will show me the numbers of the years.

Any idea?

As no one answers, maybe there really is no way to monitize that.
Or those who know, will remain silent.

My idea is that:
Just in less developed countries there are many businesses, which don’t know the nowadays importance of internet.
They will never have a hp.
The business I mentioned is a inn off the main roads in a southern country, where millions of people make holidays.
And noone takes the other, smaller road to get a origin Italian Pizza there.
Why?
many percent use googlemaps for leading them.
And many look for lunch on google. Every googlemaps registered is shopwn there.
But these maybe millions of businesses are invisible for 100% of modern people.

hugh....

My approach would be this:
setup call forwarding from the google maps -> to your virtual phone -> to them
list yourself or your company in the listings
then look for how many times your virtual phone ringed.

This way you will know how many new clients (or rather leads) you brought them.

After sending them say, 10 leads, contact them and if they want still getting new clients then they'd have to pay.

That would be it.

Yes, a good idea. I didn t think to it,because that could work for a carpenter or mason, but in southern countries in Europe not so many people will call before going to lunch, do they?

Well, that's that, it seems.

Just to clarify, your plan is to create Google business profiles for companies that don't have one already and take a percentage of revenue from new clients that come in from finding the business on maps?

In case of restaurant it wouldn't work.
Thing you could do is to just sign a contract and assume good faith.
If they'll see bump in clients then they might pay you back for it.

Well is the inn any good?
Maybe their services/food is crap.
Usually a good restaurant doesnt need to advertise anywhere, instead word of mouth is what keeps them busy.
There is a saying in my country(peraphrasing): the demand for good food is always unlimited.

I thought about that, yes. But I think, that would end in a pizza for my family. Not worth it.
IF they would say: wow, great, good idea, please do it for us, than I would have made it for free just to see, how it works and for learning.

Yes. Don t you see a meaning in that?

Yes its a good pizzeria. Their problem is, that in Greece no Greek people like Italian pizza (thin, crispy...; they want a thick cake instead, wich is just the oposite)).
So the native people dont go there so much and the tourists don t know, because they look at Google Maps where to eat.

Nevertheless, if I were in a country, where many businesses still don t have internet, that as a service would be working I think.

I know another small inn, which is of the roads, too. And the onlx ads they do is a profile on Google Maps. They only are open in summer. And their biergarden is full every evening .

I definitely get how being on the maps would be beneficial to an inn slightly off the beaten track. I'm a bit mystified as to why they don't get it, but the problem is two-fold, because if they did get it, they definitely wouldn't give up a percentage of sales for the 3 minute setup required.

You have to somehow educate them on the potential, without giving away the farm by letting them know it can be done in full, on a phone, while sipping a morning latte.

Seems like a tightrope act.

Could you buy the inn for its current valuation, and double its value overnight by entering the address into Google yourself?

Buy? No, definitely no. They own it 100s years and never will sale.

Yes, I think one could double the worth within minutes. Thats driving me a bit crazy.

Can you, like, marry one of their daughters, so you can medieval style take control of the business?

It's a shame... They clearly have something special going on, but don't want to share it with the world for some reason.

Well... my wife would kill me! :)
The best is : their daughter is in Germany, running a small oil importing business!
I think, I must forget that soon!
