Been in corporate america for years and decided I just wasn't really passionate about the bureaucracy. Started a career in digital marketing 11 years ago and have been helping small SEO and marketing companies grow. I work for Income Store and want to make sure that anyone that has questions about their account with us or would like clarification or if their account is in need of help, I want to make sure I'm here as a resource to take my lashings where appropriate and be as helpful as I can where appropriate. That way when people are posting in threads I can give them first hand information and most importantly resolutions.

How are SEO and webdesign companies marketing their business these days ? It seem like SEO give a bad taste to many people these days, because the much they get spammed by overseas emails about optimizing their SEO.

Hello
I'm new to this forum just like you, I suppose at the moment I'm more here to learn until I have successes to share. I’ve recently launched a line of niche beauty products? We started by offering all the products together in a beautiful gift box, but that didn’t work so we are going to soon start selling them individually. We have a website, but basically no traffic. We’ve worked a lot on Instagram, but haven’t been able to sell with the medium. The branding is nice. What activities would you pursue to start selling?
Thank you

SEO gets a bad rap because it's still a highly needed service... there are just too many grey and black hat SEO companies out there (SEO's not following best practices). SEO companies either dumb it down too much and can't prove that they are legit or they talk using their own vernacular and get way too heady for the average "consumer" of their services. I think SEO companies need to do a better job bridging that gap and truly providing value. Then the issue shifts to the cost associated with doing it right. Because it's so nebulous it's hard for most companies to measure ROI. If SEO's can find a way to answer all of those questions they have a sustainable business model.

Paid social campaigns, demographic studies and a limited paid traffic campaign with Google and Bing. It's about data collection... it's about getting email sign ups.... make them your customer then upsell them and package them. The value of your offer has to be compelling enough for them to take a risk on your brand.

Sounds like a subscription box service.

I'd say keep doing the social media marketing. Follow/copy GaryVee. He may talk a lot but can't deny results and he's great at marketing. You also need to contact social media influencers(like Jenna Marbles) and try to have them advertise your product on their channels. E-mail newsletters etc...

Welcome. For a totally new business starting out selling their stuff on ecommerce and trying to get traction, what would your advice be, if any, assuming the business doesn't have thousands to throw at FB ads and SEO is not suitable for the particular niche. Would you advise using a completely influencer-based strategy (shout-outs) or something else?

I find that almost everytime, many new businesses open their doors, only to find themselves staring into a vacuum aka world of void. Silence.

So true mate. I guess they go a lot on referrals- the good ones anyway. The bad guys I guess promise a lot for not much money and then farm it out on an outsourcing site... not adding any value to the device they’re purchased.
I’ve come across this a few times in my past and it sucks as when you want to add value to another’s marketing you get shot down with “I can get this done for 1/3 of that cost”
How are you finding it?

Great question.
My suggestion would be to instead of throwing a bunch of money at FB campaigns, use facebook data to find your demographic and find ways to connect with them grassroots.... or start really small with promotions on facebook. See the ROI and then invest a little more. Influencers can be a game changer but the good ones are expensive and hard to connect with especially for physical product. If you don't have a product that stands out, it's hard to get that influencer to pay off. Also "kind of" in the influencer paid FB realm, look into creating some cool but inexpensive videos and do Instagram ads instead of FB.... still through the same platform but helps you stand out through the noise.

I hope that helps

Beauty products do REALLY well with social influencers and on platforms geared toward the vain.... Instagram, snapchat, etc... Before and after videos, hyper targeted to people who are fans of competitive products... great place to start

Contact these two. Your sales will grow if they market for you.

To sell , customer must deem your product has more value than others .
Are you selling cheaper than ebay and Amazon for the same product ?

I offer a warranty that within 4 months their keywords will be on first google page, and so far I was succeeding in doing that , usually the client keep paying a couple of months after that. However I only give this warranty when I know the keyword I am going to work on has that potential, not every keyword you can push it to first page.
Although SEO is very important to many people we get clients or sells online, it seem owners no longer care about SEO, maybe because of bad experience or they think they can do it themselves.

Any general tips for SEO for our business selling wholesale towels and linens? We get a fair amount of organic search traffic in our region (Western Canada), but would love to know how to show up in searches across the USA as well. We're in the middle of a revamp of our site that will target a much broader audience. USD/CAD currency switcher, online wholesale store, free shipping with minimum orders, etc.

Where do we start making a career, in web designing or SEO field, and also how much time it will take for a newbie to learn web designing?
