Since I read the Millionaire Fastlane I have made a few lifestyle adjustments. I canceled several online subscriptions, put my Prada on eBay, cut ties with my fashion dealer and am cutting my “social networking” budget in fourths. I’ve also dropped many mini projects in favor of one that I believe solves a big problem for some and some problems for many. Since most of my experience comes from the same place, the food industry I have pool of past frustrations to pull from when looking for a problem to solve. I realized last week after I began writing “100 ways to kill your cafe” that writing a book and categorizing information is going to take more time than I thought. When my brain is fried I switch to something else for a while before I can get back to writing. My whole life I have been told to focus, which is a lot easier when I take adderall, but I forgot to renew my prescription and forget to take it when I have it anyways. I have two food products that I am manufacturing. One of them (the first one) I decided to stop and thought it was not a good idea anymore, and I was really bored with it. I gave away the inventory I had left and created recipes and inventory for a new product. I just finished the new product last night and need to finish some info sheets for it but in the last few days I received orders and inquiries about orders for the first product I gave away. Is it unreasonable to work on an information project with online resources (website) as well as manufacturing and marketing two food products? My thought is no, it is not to much but I would appreciate feedback. I normally don’t realize I’m juggling too much until the balls are on the floor. Thanks!

So you gave up, but the market is telling you "No, we want more?"

I was really bored with it

Do you understand that the market doesn't care if you're bored with it? If you have what I want, I don't care how bored (or overjoyed) you are in the process behind it.

Wouldn't it be a great idea to start a blog and then sell ebooks on the food industry? I do not promote anyone's site for them but if you are interested in where to learn to be a success when blogging, send me a message and I'll tell you who I believe in because that's how I've always done things.... the same way they do. I see lots of money just waiting on you to make it.

Thank you for the feedback MJ. I was able to make two batches towards filling the orders late last night and I have to admit my irrelevant boredom did a serious you turn when I had a few orders to fill. This shift in how I have always thought about business is new but welcome. As soon as I get off work today I’m going to finish the orders I have and figure out the difference between who reordered and who did not.

Hi Mini Van Man,
I am hoping to do exactly that. Once I started thinking about all of the problems there are to solve in the food industry I started getting excited. I would really appreciate your suggestions, thank you for offering.

Thank you ZCP, I’m going to google the wheel of life. Also, is your photo just another squirrel trying to get a nut?

A positive feedback loop will do that.

You: This is boring.
Customer: This thing you created is the greatest ever!!
You: Wow, suddenly doing this isn't so boring!

That's the passion/feedback loop in a nutshell.

Positive feedback loop kicked in just in time!

The One Thing is a good book for staying focused.

10x Rule is a good book for remembering that things always take a lot longer than we anticipate.

Quick update, since last week I have been able to get all of my nutrition labels, ingredient list, a customer infographic, a pitch and an order form to take my product to a few new stores!

I noticed that people are often unclear and unspecific about what their product actually is on this forum. Is that a thing? Is it a “best practice”? Everything I try usually ends up way harder than I thought it would be and takes time, resources and figuring out. I’m not a millionaire yet, I’m barely a thousandaire so I’ve never worried about anyone stealing the idea I’m working on. Am I being naive?

Here's the reason's behind it...

Also, we've had a couple of ideas "stolen" in the past here, was years ago, but still ... if you provide STEP BY STEP instructions on how you create a valued product and then assign a $$ figure to it, you can bet there will be some idiot out there who will copy it, step by step, word for word. Some might even steal your testimonials. That's just the internet for ya... 1% ruin it for the 99%.

I have restructured as many things as possible. I believe I can pay off my $60,000 student loan with my income in the next 28 months and I will be completely debt free. I’m not confident I can stay in my job for two years, but I’m grateful for the motivation provided from doing something I hate every day to get to a place I really want to be. I have narrowed down my blogs and domains to two and have two physical products to market and sell. I have spent the last week and a half creating content and hired someone to produce more of the physical product so I am able to sell by the case. I keep hearing that it is important to focus on one thing, but I’m sticking with the two projects until I have a solid reason to focus on just one.

Update: Hey everyone! Hope all is well in TFF-land. Have you ever started a workout routine and healthy eating plan that was working great and then you plateau’d? That recently happened with my food product but i followed some good advice and I think I’m back on track. If you have ever dealt with restaurant owners or chef’s, it can be a nightmare. Restaurants are always so busy as is everyone who works in them. The question I asked myself was what would have made it most likely for me to utilize a vendors service when I was in the industry. The answer is make it as easy as possible, so easy, that it’s more work not to do business with you. By providing them with everything they could possibly need to use my product, and making it easily accessible, I was able to get a few more customers. A few customers is a big impact for where I am at right now. After getting a little feedback from my new client, I plan on repeating this process over and over to see how many clients I can serve.
