A couple of years ago I wrote a report teaching entrepreneurs with virtual businesses how to take their business, or a piece of it, offshore for asset protection and tax minimization.

Times are changing in the offshore world so I updated the report to reflect current trends and changes in the legal structures. There are lots of changes after the implementation of FATCA and also after the Panama Papers surfaced. Thus it was time to update the report.

If you have any type of location independent business, ecommerce business, or even in some cases a brick and mortar business, this report could be worth 10s or even 100s of thousands for you in tax savings alone.

Additionally, if you are a digital nomad, you could structure your business and your life to be nearly tax free (or at least tax deferred).

Thank you for the informations.

You have to ask yourself if you want to do that though.
I live in Germany.
I am driving on the streets, I'm using the healthcare and education system. I have some kind of protection when loosing a job and can use the monetary help for children and teens for myself.
That are just a few of the benefits I use from the taxes other people pay. So why should I dismiss the system and pay taxes somewhere else? As long I am using the benefits I should be paying for them.

It will depend on your country and tax law.

Yes, it is legal. But is it the right thing to do?

It seems this is not for you.

Yes, it is legal. But is it the right thing to do?

This is a business forum, not ethics class.

Ah OK. Understood. That depends on the business. If you have any IP that "may" be able to take a piece offshore and do an asset leaseback.

@GlobalWealth thank you for the info, I got the report and find it interesting. Especially the last example. Are there any other sections/segments of a B&M that could be setup offshore? In particular, for a small manufacturing business with a B&M location and eventually a handful of employees?

Depends on business but it could be possible.

For example you can utilize an offshore company as your importer or exporter to shift profits.

Or you can assign your IP offshore and do an IP leaseback.

Or if you outsource your workforce to India, Phillipines, etc you can have an offshore staffing agency that retains earnings.

Why do you say your report is free?
It costs $19

Anyway, other people seems to be satisfied with your product so it may be worth. It's just a bit confusing...

The offshore ecommerce report is free. The offshore banking report is $19.

yeah but if you follow the link on the offshore ecommerce side and fill in name and email and then press "get your free report now" it leads to the banking report to buy, there is no download for the free report!

i dont know if this is important for you,
but there is no info in how you receive the report after pressing the "get your free report now" button.... i found the report now but not in my spam but in my "advertising" box where i never look at! seems @eduinvestor had a similar issue.

The opening line on the success page says...

"ALL SET! Your email has been verified and everything we promised you will be sent to your inbox shortly"

I just went thru the funnel myself.

At what point would it make sense to transition offshore? Would it be feasible at 100k annual digital income?

That's a tough call without a lot more info. I suggest reading thru the report and see if anything seems to resonate with you or sound similar to your personal situation.

Read the ebook, interesting stuff. Minor question, but suppose I have a web-based business that sells leads to US-based businesses (the potential customers itself are also 100% US). Business itself is incorporated offshore (think Jersey, Cayman). USD bank account through a payment provider so didn't need a US company so far.

How would this work? Even though my business has no physical connection to the US the IRS could still argue that because the service is US focused I'd have to pay US taxes...

Maybe it's better for me to form a US OpCo LLC, keep all the IP offshore and essentially charge the LLC for leasing the domain, brand name, sales & marketing services etc?

There are a lot of factors to consider here beyond what you asked. For example, what is your citizenship? Your residency? Your tax home? How you get paid? Do you need Paypal/Stripe/Etc? Do you get paid by wire? How much time are you physically in the US?

These are all questions we would address and provide an assessment for during a consultation.

How much would a consultation be? Would probably consider this if my business picks up.

I'm an EU citizen, resident in the UK (also for tax purposes) and virtually never in the US. I would take your advice on how to get paid since basically all payments are B2B so I have flexibility there (but likely through Wire transfer to my non-US USD account).

My apologies for the very long delay in response. I didn't see this before and I'm not on the site daily so I missed the notification of a new post.

Likely you are not on the forum anymore, but in case you are I will respond.

I work with a lot of EU and UK residents and citizens who are location independent. In fact, this is probably 80% of my business.

You are in a great position as you are an EU citizen which means you most likely from a tier 3 country that has a residency based global tax code.

Basically that means if you choose to move outside your country of citizenship (and obtain residency), your home country will no longer attempt to tax you. In fact, most likely you won't even need to file a tax form.

I do consultations 2 ways with clients; 1- you can pay for a 30m consultation and we can discuss your situation and I can share some ideas and suggestions, or 2- you can join our membership program and you get unlimited consultations, plus content on internationalization, and discounts on company formation and other services.

I hope this helps.
