I think these stores takes huge margins because it seems to be only 2-3 stores selling this item. And many on forums are looking for places to get it.

Will research it further..

Update :

item x price 8$ can be sold for around 20 dollars = 12 dollars profit.

Worth a try right?

Edit : tried a different search word on the swedish site and bomb 3-4 sellers...

No, this is far too low. If you are buying for $8 you should be selling for an absolute rock bottom minimum of $36, after fees, taxes, delivery, packaging, costs you will probably just about double your money.

$8 you should be selling for around $50, this way you have a good margin AND you can afford to sell it on sale, or at wholesale prices at around $20-$25

Sometimes i get fed up about huntingor products. And that is probably the easiest part is this process.

Man, giving up is easy. Have to continue and not give up. A breakthrough can be around the corner.

Hang in there; it may be the easiest part, however it's not actually that easy. I found a product and then took several weeks to source it, as it turns out, I'm beginning to think I should have kept looking. Only time will tell!

In my experience, finding good products is the hardest part of the business.

It's also one of the most difficult to outsource.

Don't give up, it takes me 40-50 hours sometimes, just to find one idea. Other times, the ideas come to me daily. The more you practice, the better you will get at finding opportunities.

Well. 15 minutes later it seems i have found a potential product. Found a website selling this product for more than 210 dollars....I can get it from Alibaba för around 10-20 dollars.

Another site is selling it for around 150 dollars. Hopefully quality from China can match.

Action : contacted 5 suppliers...

How did this product turn out? those margins are very good margins so I would be highly suspicious of the supplier/suppliers quality and I would do more research about the resale ability. Many times Amazon will have up products with no reviews or it may be a new product so you wont really know if the product is actually selling at 210 or if the market thinks it is way too much for the specific product.

im trying to find good suppliers. Gonna try to source samples and see how it goes.

Thinking of putting up listings here in sweden and see if i get some orders. If i do i will just apologize and offer 10-15% discount when i have the product in store.

If you haven't already read @Walter Hay 's thread on importing from China, he has some absolute golden advice about ali baba and China in general. If you follow his due diligence advice, you can't go wrong.

@mosdef The book isn't very long at all and in the grand scheme of things of things the book is inexpensive. From reading this treat along with other post you've made in other threads it is very possible the book will help you.

Let us know how the product works out, keep coming back and updating this thread so you can keep yourself accountable. I haven't done my own progression thread but that is because I am still looking for a solid product, I think I found two, if they sell i'll start my own as well to hold myself accountable.

Just imagine how furfilled you will be once you find the product, source the product, put the product up on whatever platform you choose and actually make a sale! That shit is going to be exhilarating.

Remember E is for Entry, the harder it is to find a product, the less likely it is you will have millions of people doing what you're doing. Embrace the difficulty, love it, one day you will value it, because it will lessen your chances of being swamped by competition.

Yes this is the thing one has to understand. If its not hard everyone can do it. And when its hard. If you quit you will never be successful. Hate it or love it but it has to be done..

I stumbled onto a product when I was browsing a forum related to one of my hobbies. There is no clear cut best product from major brands so you can find a lot of chatter related to what people love and hate about it/what needs to be improved.

The problem for me is amazon and ebay are already flooded with knock off designs of the big brand products sourced from alibaba.

I think the best way in is to work with a supplier on a custom version that works better and spread the word on the forum I visit.

Easier said than done!

so guys, i found about 1-3 product i would like to test on amazon.com..

The product is pretty simple and not much can be wrong with it. But i dont want to start my venture on amazon.com with alot of return.

So i have to order samples. Should i ship 10 samples directly to sweden and then if quality is good order another shipment to amazon fba?

That would take me around 2 months... Is there a faster and still a safe way to go?

2 months is fast to bring a product to market.

Bootstrapping an import business can be frustratingly slow at the outset.

Have you looked to find a way to be able to get your payments from Amazon to a Swedish bank account?

When I set up my business account at the bank I talked to the guy working there about in the future looking at the possibilities to scale my business overseas as well (currently selling in Sweden), and we talked about receiving payments from overseas and he said that was a very complicated thing to get accepted, it needed to be a voting at a board in the bank and only if the majority found it to be "good" they would accept it.

Maybe it is different at other banks I dont know but just giving you a heads up that it might be a complicated process, and that looking for a solution for that might be something you want to do before getting alot of products up on there and then not being able to receive your hard earned money.

Yes maybe it is. Problem is that first i have to check quality first and if its good i once again has to order samples to amazon FBA. Because i have to test quality and demand. And i cant test them in same shipment..

Great! Glad to hear there was such a simple way to get over that issue.

All these little things are eating away at profit. But if one would start selling alot of amazon, there is other ways to go...

Did you say you're selling in Sweden?

Exactly, dont get too focused on the profits but rather on creating and building a real business providing value, once you get to heavy volumes you will be able to get your products cheaper and your profits will be higher.

Yes I am. Doing e-commerce combined with selling my products on Swedish versions of Amazon.
